I don't actually see what grounds you have here.

Your daughter and her friend entered into a contract. They then wanted to cancel the contract and agreed to the price to do so.

It might not seem fair but its all perfectly legal.

Its in situations like this where you do wish the law took in to account what was "moral".

Yes I would agree with you on that point. That she has entered into an agreement, but there in lies the problem, how has she?? Firstly I thought that if you entered any agreement over the phone they had to read to you all the terms and conditions and then ask you if you agree with them. If you do agree, then all well and good, you have entered into, and accepted the terms of the agreement. They would then send it to you in writing for you to sign and send back. They didn't do this, they just booked her in and charged her £20.00 booking fee for the privilige. They didn't tell her that she would be charged to cancel the appointment or that she only had 7 days in which to do it, or that she was entering into any kind of agreement or contract which would have penalties if she cancelled. She didnt receive the agreement until the day after she telephoned them to cancel, although it was dated the day she originally rang to make the booking.
When I looked at the agreement it made me laugh, at the part where it said (Double take have the right to cancel your appointment and charge a fee of £125.00 if you are any more than 20minutes late for your appointment) Dont you think that this agreement is a little one sided????

Definately!!!!!!!!! This company doesn't understand the word moral, I don't think it fits in with their agreement!!

Is this the same company that does "free" professional makeovers? I used to work as a market researcher and saw them targetting young girls. They would approach them and say that they could be entered into a free prize draw for a makeover if they gave their personal details and of course they all "won" one. The makeovers themselves were free but afterwards there was immense pressure to pay extortionate prices for a few photos. I always thought that this was a very dubious sales technique. Many councils now have a ban on this sort of activity on the high street.
  • I used to work for this scum of a company. Fortunately I was not any part the sales & telesales department, but worked more in a creative capacity. The way they scam these young people is disgusting and they should be investigated by watch dog. After the shoot, the sales people would pressure sell to the customer. They would sell a package in the morning for £250 and then the same package in the afternoon to another customer for £750. They basically push for as much as they can get out of you. Steer clear of this company, or walk into the lions' den!
