mbaz, do you live anywhere near a Home Bargains shop? They are selling Pataks curry sauces at 39p (can) or 59p (Jar), lots of different flavours too -I've stocked up on them.
£100 a month for the 4 of you is bloomin brilliant and I have faith that you can do it!!I also remember the words of my friends, but I would rather have enemies than friends like youwould like to make it known that ZubeZubes avvy is a DHN, she's not dancing

No I dont and I LOVE that shop! There is one near my mum's (250 miles away unfortunately) I've done the tesco online guide price as a guide. I'll actually go to Aldi which is near me on Thursday and see what I can get cheaper. ditto for asda and then get the rest from tesco (my kids are going to love tralwing round 3 supermarkets again with me!)
edit: just though can perhaps get some when I'm up there 4th and 5th Oct! Thanks for tip!0 -
I'd be lost without Home Bargains, I best not move away from the North of England then
Dont forget to use mysupermarket.com that will compare all the major supermarkets and if you join ipoints, you can collect the points, which could mount up to quite a few by the end of the year.
There is another website, I think its fixture ferrits?? (some will say if its wrong) and that will tell you whats on offer at the supermarkets, that might cut your shopping bill down a bit too.
I love this thread!:TI also remember the words of my friends, but I would rather have enemies than friends like youwould like to make it known that ZubeZubes avvy is a DHN, she's not dancing

Great thread as always! I made chicken curry (bulked with veggies and lentils), shepherds pie (bulked with grated carrot, tinned tomatoes and lentils). Hubby is a bit sceptical, but having eaten this over the weekend I think he may be converted!First Direct Loan @ 7.9% £13,076.03/£20,250

Hi mbaz
Been reading your thread with interest, am so impressed with your budget and planning :T
Anyway- couple of things from your list that may help you- at least to treat yourself to wine
(have just done my online shop hence noticing)
Mr T have started doing value unsalted butter (79p)- would recommend have used it this last week for baking and spreading
And (I know was discussed earlier) I use value nappies and value fragrance free wipes (only at night now but did do daytime with reusuables too) and they have been absolutely fine- I reckon they don't keep the smell as locked away (not a problem unless you leave them on for a very long time  by accident!) and you can see they look a bit yellow after a few wees but again I would recommend

I've been reading this thread with interest. I still haven't got my head around meal planning but maybe given time .....
This evening there were three of us eating and the boys requested curry. I was about to open three tins of curry and cook rice and then I thought of this thread and made a lovely lentil and borlotti bean curry from stuff in the fridge and cupboard. It was a bit runny so I added a handful of oats !! I put in two tiny chillis that I had grown in the garden and WOW it was HOT HOT HOT ...the boys went back for more and I froze the one portion left for someones lunch later, with a HOT warning !!
I'm not very good on pricing but I reckon the whole meal cost about £1 which would have paid for 1 tin of curry and we'd need three with my big boy's appetites !! Better for them as well!
