Washing spectacularly blowing fuses and sockets

Need advice.
Washing machine not working, blew the fuse on the extension cable it was plugged into. Then it blew the wall socket with a large bang and flames.
Should have taken the hint at this point.
Changed fuse use different extension cable and socket. Guess what blew the new one too.
So would you believe it I bought the god-damn-thing on 21st May last year. Are they programmed to go wrong only days after your one year guarantee runs out or what??????
So what now? Do I call my insurance company? How will this affect my premium?
Do I look for quotes from repairmen locally?
Or should I just give up an go back to bed as I seem to be having an awful week.
First Wednesday on the way home from work a lorry threw up a stone which gave my windscreen a 6 inch crack A**h**e. Then sometime on Saturday night the rabbit died and now The washing machine has gone kaput.
If I wasn't so poor it would be liveable with, but in my state of poverty it's just crushing.
Does anyone have any advice as to the best thing to do?
Please help me:(

I would think that even though the mashine is more than one year old you would have a claim with the manufacturer to get the mashine repaired under the sale of goods act as you should reasonable expect a washine mashine to last more than one year. Does you local BBC station run any sort of consumer programme? If it does I would give them a call, failing that try the CAB for advise.Nothing to see here, move along.0

i'm afraid i'm gonna have to disagree and say that they extension cable is probably to blame. there is a certain voltage they can take and a washing machine probably is higher than this. meaning that the whole thing went caput and your lucky it didn't blow the wiring through your whole house.
i once noticed a funny smell in the living room that was making me extremely nauseus, turns out it was the extension the delonghi dragon was plugged into meltin...0 -
we thought it was just the extension cable, but when we plugged the washing machine directly into the wall socket we got a large bang and flames. This din't trip the house at all. We then tried it in a separate socket with a brand new extension cable. Again pop and blown extension ac
cable. It's definately the washing machine that is causing everything it's plugged into to blow"A banker is a fellow who lends you his umbrella when the sun is shining, but wants it back the minute it begins to rain." Mark Twain0 -

Err, no , not voltage - current maybe but not voltage. Voltage is the same for all domestic equipment (220-240V). Some extension leads are only capable of carrying a maximum of 5 Amps as opposed to the normal full 13 Amps.
Large bangs and flames are never a good sign and is the Electrics Gods way of telling you summat is goosed!
Could you not go back to the supplier and tell them it blew up the day BEFORE the guarantee ran out :-)0 -
Tried to go back to supplier as I have a note that delivery was 10th june last year, but oh no they says it was May 31st.
Anyway had an arguement over the fact that one year warrenty was out, so I'm no longer entitled to repairs. Pah I'm now only 13 days after the end of this.
So I laid the Sale of goods act on them and asked who I would write to to complain about this.
Then put onto hold to talk to supervisor.
Blood beginning to boil at this point. Sorry I'm really bad in confrontations.
Well apparently supervisor is going to get onto Hotpoint as I'm only just past the year:rolleyes: and see what can be done.
So watch this space.......
Not going to go down without a fight. Actually can't afford to go down without a fight.
This has already cost me money. OH had to run to Tesco on Monday morning to buy DS a new school uniform. Her others where in the WM about to be washed and dried ready for School in the morning.:D"A banker is a fellow who lends you his umbrella when the sun is shining, but wants it back the minute it begins to rain." Try the manufacturer - not the supplier as they will be wanting you to go back to them in the future and if you had no satisfaction from the washer now then you will hardly likely to recommend them to anyone else - I did this with a kettle and I got a new one no problem - it was 2 weeks out of warranty and I was like you not a happy person.Saving in my terramundi pot £2, £1 and 50p just for me! :j0

Under the Sale of Goods Act, your first point of call is the supplier though - if you contact the manufacturer before failing completely with the supplier that can go against you. Go back to them and ask them to send you a copy of the delivery note and take it from there.0
