How seriously is abuse, cyber stalking, bullying, etc taken on this site?

Options
I am basically being stalked, abused, being accused of stuff I haven't done and being cyber bullied by a few people on here. I have emailed; but haven't heard anything back at all.

Or is it because these people are part of the "elite" and I'm just a newbie?

And yeah, I DO realise this is a busy site; but really, what's the excuse?

  • Hi sh1305!

Bulling and abuse is taken very seriously by the forum team. Have you reported all incidents to abuse@moneysavingexpert.com. It is always useful to email them links with examples of the posts so they can get an overall picture of the problem. You may not hear anything from abuse as they do not always have time to answer emails, but it does not mean that they are not taking it seriously behind the scenes.

Report. Keep reporting with links to posts. And please don't feel bad, because it reflects on the bully, the supporting faction, including the tacitly supporting ones and on the site if it isn't contained and not on you.

Always on the go is quite right.

If you think you are being bullied we take it seriously - yet these things are not easy - we are not a police force and there can be issues on both sides (i have no idea of your specific case - I am talking generally).

Cyber bullying can be very damaging - yet detecting it - and being judge and jury is virtually impossible. If it is causing you distress then please report it to abuse@moneysavingexpert.com with notes.

We normally take up to 48 hours to respond but hope to do it quicker.

However if being on the site distresses you that's very sad, and the last thing we want - yet it is also important to consider helping yourself and walking away for a time - which can ease things.

    All the best

    Martin

I don't know the circumstances #Op I wouldn't imagine you're being bullied because you're new to the site, I'm newer than you, and have been met by nothing but politeness and friendliness by everyone ! :D

However, it I were in your position and felt I was being hounded for no reason, then I would simply go away and register under another name. That will end it with a swift flick of the keyboard so to speak. Good luck, I hope it all works out well for you, bullying is a hideous thing to happen to anyone!!

    Hi.

If you go into your private messages, and click the red triangle - this will forward your abusive PMs to the admin team. I know this because I Mod on another site and we ban all PM abusers.

    Good luck.

Whatever the issues with a member, bullying should not be an option, there should be a zero tolerance when the accusation has been proved to be true. There is also no need to presume that site visits would be distressing, because the vast majority of members are very nice and so is the forum dynamics generally so pleasing or we wouldn't be here. I feel for such people subject to bullying, sorry for having returned to stress on this matter. If I didn't say this much after having read the OP, my conscience would hurt me.

    I couldn't agree more.

Unfortunately (and again let me reiterate i've not read anything on the specifics of this) its never that easy

Whenever we've had complaints of bullying - there usually tend to be two side - both can be upset - sometimes both feel bullied. Othertimes the 'bullies' are completely shocked that it was perceived that way.

And when we have got rid of people we consider have bulled others on the site - we've then seen campaigns on here to bring them back.

So please remember while its easy to say "stop bullying" in practice sadly its very difficult to do.

    Martin :)

Just create a new user id.

Problem is, the 'bullying' here is a response to the multiple usernames all asking the same questions.

Furthermore, the AEs in this case have become quite unpleasant in the past and had posts/threads deleted because of it.

Few of us forget such posters and yet many think they can return several months later with the same story and nobody will notice.

As already said - two sides to every story. ;)

This isn't the only forum affected by this posters tactics either.

I would argue there is more rule breaking going on than bullying, but still...
