Renault Laguna Diesal Estate - Opinions?
I am looking for a family car thats a diesal and have seen the Renault Laguna Tourer that looks pretty nice. I have lways said I would own a nother french car but for the price and spec it seems the front runner.
Parkers say they have problems with the electrics and gear box's I wondered if anyone had any real experiences with them?
Or can anyone recommend a good family car with the following requirements;
Under 85k miles
Between 2000-3000
Not older than 2001
Diesal
Estate

Don't get a Laguna 2001 onwards" They are dire!
They aint very big either!
They are full of hundreds of electrical problems that don't go away!
For 3000 you could get a fairly decent Passat tdi estate.0 -

The renault appreciation society is out in force i see.
Laguna's are great for mile munching and reasonably roomy.
The diesel engines are good. 1.9dci 120 is the one to go for and well proven, pretty reliable engine.
However as mentioned they do tend to have a lot of niggles....mainly electronic.
On balance i'd say stay away as they are little less reliable than other marques.
Allthough don't buy a VW et al expecting it to be bomb proof, you only need to search VW on here to see some of the crap they produce too.0 -

The Laguna of this period can be crap. Even a good one is inferior to the later Megane sports tourer, more load space in direct comparison, etc
Need a budget to be honest?
Please take anything Inactive says with a "slight" pinch of salt, he was once poisoned by frogs legs you see,, infact he still has them. Master of the one sentence put down, but we still love him,

I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.
Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)

I'm not sure how you come to this conclusion. (ignorning electrical issues) I'd much prefer a laguna. All the seats are better, it has a better ride and i can't remember the stats but i'm pretty sure its load capacity is better than a megane ST.
I'm a big Renault fan although admittedly despite driving them continously over a five year period i've never had to deal with "ownership problems". Allthough i can say in the average 0-3 months old that i had them for they were faultless! :rotfl:Except the ones with a FAP filter, avoid them like the plague...USELESS.0 -

Come on, be honest, all Renaults are crap.;)
Nissan's were excellent cars until they got stitched in with Renault, now Nissan's are as bad as Renault's.0 -
Any car that had a FAP is quite irritating!0
