please ask a sparky to have a look, in theory it should be ok with a modern board the overload protection should kick in, but in theory is a horrible thing to have on your headstone.
a pic of a fused switch could be anything... guessing what is on a forum is impossible.0 -
This is nothing to do with Storage Heaters. It is a standard 13amp fused spur outlet. As identified it is the same kind of thing that is used instead of a plug in the kitchen to power appliances. If iot is in the hallway it may have been installed to provide power to a Burglar Alarm panel that may not have been installed by the builder. If you undo it and see a set of cables going into what is known as the 'Supply' and nothing coming out to the 'appliance' (which is known as the 'load') or whatever it is intended to provide power to, then there is reason why it can't be turned into a single 13amp socket. If it has a 'load' cabre coming out of it then it is powering something and you need to find out what. If the house is only 2 years old you should have been given an owners manual by the builder and it may tell you in there.
But she's got them scattered all over the house...No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -

Hi i think i said further up we dont have, them so surely that rules them out?
No it doesn't-we're saying it's been wired ready for them, although you don't have them actualy installed. Where exactly are all the other sockets-are they where you would expect to find storage heaters?
What wiring did you find behind the socket?
What did you find when you looked at your meter and consumer unit?No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -
It looks like a fused spur for something. What size fuse does it have in it? Turn it on/off and have a good check of what does/doesnt work.Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..0

Hi there is one as you walk through the front door nearish to the radiator..there is one as you go up the second set of stairs to the bedrooms next to nothing! there are ones in the kitchen the same but as we know they hold appliances etc, we have one spare off, the one in the lounge we figured was for a fire if we wanted one but is off too.
The one in the hall that is the one we are intersted in and has always been off (for the last 2+years!)..there is nothing in the house that it can be for as everything else has its own switch. Storage heaters are an option i guess but odd seeing as we have numerous radiators (too many in fact!)
As for the meter what am i looking for?
Thanks0 -
Are you saying there is one on the stairs? What we are trying to establish is whether the locations are ones where you would logically put a storage heater.
You are looking to check if you have an Economy 7 meter, and looking at your CU to see if you have a circuit marked 'storage heaters'. Have you looked at your bill yet to see if you are on an E7 tariff? No free lunch, and no free laptop0
