Yes, that does sound reasonable doesn't it.

But I recently bought a Sony tv from JL. It was price matched with Robert Whyte of Glasgow. At the time Robert Whyte were offering a three year warranty as standard. They charged extra for a five year warranty.

I paid RW's price including delivery (with std warranty) to JL and received JL's five year warranty at no extra cost.

I can offer no definite proof that JL's 5yr warranty will always be offered, but this post on an AVForums' John Lewis Price-match thread is just one example of anecdotal evidence.
