Sainsbury's as a phone provider?
I was approached in Sainsburys by a salesman offering to cut my phone costs by me switching to their service (provided by car phone warehouse). Bearing in mind I pay BT 70 per month (ouch) for broadband plus line rental plus together 1 option I know I can get cheaper. I just havent changed for fear of getting it wrong ??? Aparently I still have to pay BT for line rental and internet and the calls will be paid for through a separate DD to CPW and no prefix to dial. Has anyone else done this? Will it work out cheaper? Please dont shout at me as I know most providers are cheaper than BT but you try telling 2 teenagers to dial a prefix before calling their mates!

Rather than simply teaching the kids who is in charge, you could go for an Orchid dialler a change to TalkTalk's Talk 2 CPS (free evening and weekend UK 01 and 02 calls for a year) and having call18866 and call1899 accounts.30 years, 217 days!0

I keep trying to make them understand the concept of 'boss' and 'in charge' but not having any luck. Perhaps I should be on the 'anyone know how to...' board ::)~A mind is a terrible thing to waste on housework~0

i am sure if you gave them the bill, i think that dialing 18866 and paying 1p or not and paying bt's charges would soon change their thinking.0

If the Sainsbury;s phone service is going through CPW would you not be even cheaper going through CPW's TalkTalk where you would get a year's free UK evening and w/end calls on Option 2 and pay BT Option 1 line rental of £10.50 per month.
Then you could look at any number of cheaper than BT broadband services and use 18866 and/or 1899 for your daytime and international calls.
It does take a bit of training to get teenagers to dial the prefix but as Gary says if my daughter doesn't use it, she gets the bill for her calls and has to pay it
Might help us to give further info if you tell us how much Sainsburys are going to be charging you and for what.0 -
My daughter's 'solution' is to allow her family to make any UK 01 or 02 call they want without charge IF they prefix it with 18866 (i.e. the call costs 1p).
If they forget, they get the bill for the call (thanks, BT for online itemised call logging).
One week of 'training' was allowed and, thereafter, no excuses were accepted. After the first week, her 4 daughters complied - but her husband still forgot repeatedly. A printout of the BT call log is stuck to the fridge door with his calls highlighted each week!
