Deserted House

I have had my eye on a deserted house for several years now and I am after some advise. The property has stood derelict for 9 yrs. I have searched the land registry and have the name of the registered owner, however the listed address for this person is the same address. I have searched the electoral roll and have only found one name that matches this person and have telephoned this person to be told that they are not the owners, however around 2 yrs ago a gentleman had phoned making the same enquiries. I dont know what avenue to explore next, apart from squatting which i wish i had done 9 yrs ago, hindesight is a wonderfull thing.
Any ideas anyone???????

Thanks.

you need to report it to your local authority enviromental health team ( shuld be) that has an empty homes officer

I understand that there is actually a duty on the general public to do so ( weird, I know)

Would your local council be able to help with this? (don't know which bit but you might as well get something back for your tax!)

the council do all the leg work on finding the owner via thier empty homes scheme orthey refer it to a central body at the ( I think) ODPM ( as was)

seriously, chatting to the neighbours will get you a lot of information, particulary if you chat to the older ones, who have lived there for a long time.

A few days after we moved to a rented house I was approached by a woman who told me her name, said that she has been living there for 25 years and a lot of unnecessary information about neighbours all around the area. If you can find such a person in that area, you can be amazed on the quantity and, arguably, quality of information you get. Especially if you (unlike me) can understand local accent/dialect ;).
