Hi,
I'm doing an assignment and need to know software for items and I can't find/understand what the OS of a card terminal is(the ones in shops that everyone uses when they buy an item) anyone know?
The model I'm looking at is the verifone vx 570... The item's pdf's link is here...

when you say terminal do you mean the bit the customer puts they're card into or the till piece of equipment0

The vx 750 has only one unit. This is both the part the customer keys their pin into and the part the shop assistant keys the amount into. I would like to find out what the operating system is.
Example a lot of mobile phones have windows mobile version 6 or 5 or 6.5 is the new version. Some samsung have samsung OS.Debt target: £19,000.00

If Verifone don't state what OS they use in their literature, you will probably find it very difficult to find out.
As it's part of a payment processing system, they probably do not want anyone to know to reduce the risk of someone hacking or otherwise manipulating it.
If you were to ask HSBC what OS they use in their cash machines, I doubt they would tell you.0 -

yes i understand what you mean, i was just verifying what you was after, you tried looking for any other terminals, i couldn t see it mentioned on the link, i googled vx570 operating system and although it doesnt directly answer your question it might help, so google vx570 operating system and open the 7th link down and open up the search function in firefox and search for linux(i used linux as an example)0 -

Hi,
Sorry I thought I was a bit loose in my question so thought would make it more precise, if anyone knows a terminal and knows what OS it has I would be happy to change to a different one.Debt target: £19,000.00

Are you talking purely the card terminal or the whole Point Of Sale Terminal. I Know DSG group use windows based terminals with a bespoke application called Eclipse, no idea about the actual card keypad though.New PV club member. 3.99kW system. all i can suggest is you use google to find an answer or choose an alternative to the vx5700 -

It's mainly the terminal itself I'm after, the keypad is a periferal of the terminal and wouldn't have an operating system, just like a mouse on your pc.Debt target: £19,000.00
