any ideas- please -retune old portable tv - no instructions

hi, grateful for any help please, terribly disapointed daughter who was expecting a working tv...
just got our old (old style cube type box )portable JVC c-vt14ekb tv out of storage, cant find the instructions or remote, we're now in a different tv region, need to retune...cant fathom out how, I remember it was something akin to either hold a button down for so many seconds or hold 2 buttons down together,

aside from the on/ off, it has 5 buttons on the front
tv/av
vol-, vol+
prog-, prog+
TV working fine on dvd's
many thanks J.

Well just use the prog+ keys that should start to scan. TV will scan in the ranges between 21 - 65.

Did you post the right model number?

Is this a UK model look here http://uk.jvc-service.net/public/

    If not look here http://www.jvc.co.uk/template.php?page=100016

Buy a cheap digibox, and leave the tv on av instead.

I agree with Mikey, I am usually very good at finding things on the internet but all I found was a similar query from someone called Barr1, not you by any chance? lol

You really only have 2 options, fiddle around with the buttons and hidden panels if there are any, stump up for a replacement remote control or simply get a cheap set-top box that will give you many more channels, and probably be cheaper in the long run lol

OP, give these people a ring. They may be able to supply a User Guide.

When speaking to them, make sure you clearly tell them its a User Guide you want.

You may also find it useful to tell them the Chassis Number CV14EK, which is equivalent to your Model Number CVT14EKB.

many thanks for all your help, I've been given a manual, which indicates it can only be tuned with the remote... so digi box it will probably be..

the odd thing is even tho we're totally digital now in our area, other old tv's still work pertfectly... no idea how

A £1 universal remote from a pound shop might work. Try all the JVC codes.
