Mobile Phone insurance
I have never seen the point to mobile phone insurance as I've always had very cheap phones worth far less than the annual premiums. To date I have never damanged a phone or lost one - however now I have a touchscreen phone I'm seriously considering insurance in case the screen cracks or anything.
What's the general verdict on insurance for mobiles?
(I'll likely go for "Orange Care" at £6 a month)

If you have been careful with the handsets then there is little need for the insurance, if it is a smartphone that you have, then do back it up regularly.0 -
1) How many months/years have you had a mobile phone without breaking/loosing it?
2) How much does your current phone cost to buy on PAYG?
If the answer to (1) * £6 is greater than the answer to (2) dont bother. If you are worried put £6 away every month just in case.IT Consultant in the utilities industry specialising in the retail electricity market.

I have had a mobile phone for 15+ yrs with no problem, however I've gone from a very cheap handset - the sort you could have replaced with an ok equivalent for maybe £20 - to a much newer model which seems to be around £350 to replace ...
I guess I'm more worried that it will get stolen as it's a more attractive handset (not iphone-desirable though!) or damaged as it's now touch screen & thus I imagine deep scratches etc may affect performance whereas before it never mattered, it just looked a bit ugly if it got scratched!
£6/m (£72/yr) starts to sound reasonable against £350 replacement cost ... especially if something happens in the first few months ...
I guess I'm starting to talk myself into the insurance but really wondered what other people thought about it!0 -
