greenbee What make of washing machine do you have?

    Off to find a list.
Siemens - the filter is right down at the base of the machine. It screws in and out fairly easily, but it's difficult to tell whether it is in tightly or not.

What I really need is a decent builder  who also does small bits and pieces and can come over when I find a problem and deal with it!

Got home from work at 6.20 this morning (I left on Monday). I was tempted to start flying but didn't want to wake OH up. I slept for 3 or 4 hours earlier and I am hoping to survive on that, I don't want my body clock going mad.

Not the same as mine then!

Do you have a drain only programme on it. I'd be inclined to stick it on empty, and then just fiddle around with draining it if it leaks, refilling etc until it doesn't.

Oh and if that doesn't work then NO I don't want your washing!! I'm currently washing a Sweepy dog wee, wee'd quilt!

Thanks Tag... the infuriating thing is the fact that the floor underneath it is lower than the rest of the floor, which means there is potential for a large puddle at some point! Off to try again...

Tag - you're a star... it worked! and now I've located the instructions :o it does say to run the pumping programme after you clean the filter - not for the same reason, but it's obviously a good way of making sure all the water is out!

Anyway, I think it's sorted now - I filled it up and then did a spin and drain, and now I've got a load in and it seems to be OK so far (I'd better check again in a minute) I've got the plinth off under the sink, and the dehumidifier on, so hopefully I can dry it out without too many problems.

It has made me realise that I'm going to have to take everything out/off that side of the utility room, put down concrete and put it all back again. Still, at least the sink will be higher! And I need the taps for the WM & DW accessible in case I need to switch off the water supply.

Suppose I should get dressed now and think about going to work... although I'm wondering whether I can get away with working from home again... I definitely have to tomorrow!

Lots of positive vibes heading your way L-L xxxx
