O2 contract offer free wii mobiles.co.uk

My daughter wants to go on a phone contract, she is at present on PAYG with o2. She needs to stay on o2 because this is what all of the family are on. She has decided it may be cheaper to go on a contract as she needs a new phone and tops up £15 per month but by the end of the month has always run out of credit. She found this deal on mobiles.co.uk which she liked:

Pink Samsung Tocco Lite Clearance on O2 - FREE!
O2 600 Promo
£10 Discount (24 Months)
With 600 mins & Unlimited texts per month
Your monthly line rental will be £25.00

In this she can get Nintendo's Wii console and Wii Fit bundle of Wii Sports Resort and Wii MotionPlus, including the Balance Board, I think these are worth around £245. This is the deal she would like. Alternatively she can get £210 auto cashback.

I have read some not very good feedback about mobiles.co.uk, mainly regarding redemption offers. The way my daughter looks at it is £25 is not much more than what she would be spending, she needs a new phone and is quite excited at the prospect of having a wii fit. But the cashback may be a better deal if it’s easy to get back.

I was rather tempted by the quidco deal on sim only, with £100 cashback; £19.58 per month, 12 months contract, 1600 texts / 800 mins, Unlimited O2 to O2 Calls. but my main concern here is that the £100 cashback may not track and she would still have to buy a new phone, so she would be near the £25 that it is a month for the mobiles.co.uk deal.

Can anyone offer any advice please, thanks.

should be no problem with the £100 cashback and with that she could buy a better PAYG phone from CFW than a clearance Tocco light and not be tied into a 24 month contract again with a clearance phone that she will probably want to change before 24 months is up
Its not that we have more patience as we grow older, its just that we're too tired to care about all the pointless drama ;)
  • Be aware the O2 600 Promo that mobiles.co.uk are offering charges for ALL picture messages
  • She could quite possibly get a similar deal with carphone warehouse/o2 directly. I recently did. Both offer free consoles.

    Hi Eevie,
Sevearl points ...I notice you have it down as clearance ....for this insert second hand becuase they are phones which could be repaired or still broken etc the use of the word clearance isn't quite cricket !
The O2 600 promo is in fact O2 25 which is a totaly different thing and is only £25 in the first place :rotfl:
Theres a number of issues regarding bolt on's and text's etc
Quite a good explanation on this thread here ....

    Hi Snoweunder,
The problem is that CPW own mobiles.co.uk so your dealing with the same shoddy outfit.
Theres a saying that "theres no such thing as a free lunch" and the general feeling regarding the free consoles etc is that you get a better deal buying them seperate
One of the problems seems to be that if you have to send a phone back for credit etc you also have to send your console back too so it's double jeopardy !

Thanks for the replies. I think I'll go for the o2 via quidco, it seems the most straightforward. My daughter actually ordered the deal from mobiles.co.uk, but it was refused due to her credit rating; she is a student, It seems that companies are getting stricter on giving credit, quite rightly too. I will have to order this and pay for her and she will pay me back.

Another thing... which is the better bolt on unlimited wifi or unlimited web?

    Hi eeevie,
Wise choice ....I think if you go for the proper O2 600 most people go with the Web bolt on as she will still get free wifi where available such as home, Uni, cafe's etc etc.
It seems to be the most popular ;)
