http://www.richersounds.com/ are a highly rated uk shop with online and high street shops
Your budget for the TV will just do, but the DVD recorder will be a bit more probably.
How do they get there TV? Freeview (arial) Sky or Freesat (Satellite) or Cable (virgin).
I would not bother with a DVD recorder Harddisk recorders are the way forward in my opinion unless you really want to archive loads of stuff or send stuff to people.0 -
they have a digital Ariel,,and a free box
dvd....i was thinking just a basic unit ,that records like the old video players
dont think theyed cope with a hd unit,,,,,has to be simple mum is a technophobic,,,,dad had a stroke 2 years ago and cant do,multy instructions any moreWAS DEBT FREE & STILL BAAARRRRRKING

I would not consider DVD recording easy compared with hard disk, my in laws have never mastered DVD recording the media is the wrong sort or the timer is set wrong or they try to watch something else and it messes up.
Topfield hard disk recorder just select the programme in the EPG and its done.0 -
are we talking much ore cash for a hd reorder??WAS DEBT FREE & STILL BAAARRRRRKING

£120

but £50 more gets you twice the HD space.0 -
Do you mean they have freeview already? And they are getting a tv with freeview built in? The link above seems to be for a satellite system.
Ive got a Samsung tv with built in freeview and just got the Humax dvd recorder with a hard drive and Im useless with techie stuff but had this up and running in ten minutes. Its very easy to use. If you meant they will just have freeview rather than satellite, this is the one they need:

this is a freeview version of a sky box?? yes
as they have a free view box would a plain dvd unit not be better,,,
or would it be better to combine them as in the above example....
then they can get a tv without dvd or freeview built in??WAS DEBT FREE & STILL BAAARRRRRKING

so im thinking they have both systems running into the tv ..
they want a 32-36 "tv...and a dvd recorder,,or dvd video combi??
one of the posters suggested a hd version as they are easy for the old folks to use ??WAS DEBT FREE & STILL BAAARRRRRKING
