For the 2nd time in 3 wks. Meringue cases should be 2 for £1 but charged £1 each. Checked receipt in store got overcharge £1 & £2 gift card refunded. I will check receipt every wk now whilst in store & claim the £2 voucher as this overcharging is way too frequent.

Not according to the email I had from Asda H/O today. I asked them about this policy and they confirmed, very clearly, that the national policy is to refund the overcharge and give a £2 gift card PER RECEIPT.(not per overcharged item). They said this is the minimum that will be given - but added that local managers policy may vary ie locally you may get a better deal.ELITE 5:2

I got the email from HO saying its per item?
Thank you for contacting ASDA regarding the overcharges you have received from our store.
We always try and make sure no customer pays over the price for any goods in our stores and to this end we have just implemented a new policy change.
Whenever a customer is overcharged they are entitled to both the difference back plus a £2 goodwill gesture for the trouble this has caused. This means that if a customer pays more than they should on 3 items they are refunded the difference back to them plus are provided with a further £6 for this inconvenience. This is per item and NOT transaction.
We are hoping that this measure will enable fewer overcharges to occur and if they do then at least the customer is compensated for this.
Please have the store call ASDA House should they have any queries regarding this new policy change.
I am very sorry for any inconvenience we may have caused you in this matter.

I went to Asda the other day, they had some extra special ham on whoopsies at £1.74, I needed more than one pack and noticed it also had an offer of 2 for £3.00 sticker on it, so I bought two, thinking they would process it at the 2 for £3 offer. On the way out I checked my reciept and noticed they had charged me £1.74 each for the ham, so I was feeling annoyed and went to the CS desk, the lad on the desk pointed out the sticker on the whoopsies lable said something along the line of excludes linked items, and therefore they would charge me £1.74 each for it and the whoopsies price overrided the origional offer of 2 for £3
I was fuming, there was an old gent in the Q also who tried to stick up for me, said it was a disgrace, so with this I felt brave enough to give them back their ham and ask for a full refund:T It felt good actually, I would have normally gone off with my tail between my legs, I know its only 44p, but 44p in my pocket is better than in theirs!

If I was you, I'd have gone off to get fresh ham rather than hoping for the same offer to be applied to reduced items:j30/7/10:j

I used to get annoyed at being overcharged in my local asda but I have just
added up the £2 gift cards I have collected over the last few months. I have been sticking them in my sealed pot. I am staggered to find that I have ten,
£20. A whole weeks grocery for me.
So I will continue to check my receipts and see if I can get a free Christmas

Thanks for this- I didn't know Asda had this policy. I've been overcharged in the past week on multi-save items but haven't bothered going back as it's only been about 30-40p each time. I'll check my receipts more carefully in future.0

When you get overcharged do you generally go to the self scan checkouts or the regular ones?
I just ask because I go into Asda at about 9am before work and always use the self scanners as there's barely any staff about, but a few times I've noticed multi buy deals not going through properly but being in a rush/not too bothered about 50p or so I have just ignored it. If I'd have known about their policy I could have had quite a few free lunches on them!0 -
