Help! Electric fan heater sparks and then turns off

My first post here, please help!
I've got a small fan heater made by Glen Dimplex. I would post a picture but the forum doesn't allow me to.
It has been working fine since I moved into my new flat a few months ago, but this weekend I cannot get it to work. When I plug it in and turn it on it runs for about 15 seconds and then there is a small spark at the right hand side of the vent (where the heat comes out and all the wiring is) on the front and it turns off.
I have read that the thermostat may be 'tripping' but the unit is completely sealed and has some anti tamper screws. Does anyone know what the problem could be?
Please help, this is my main source of heating!

DONT USE IT!
THERE IS CLEARLY SOMETHING SHORTING OUT AND IT MAY WELL START A FIRE
If you still have the receipt and it is in guarantee get it replaced.Meanwhile it looks like you will have to wear two pairs of socks and a couple of jumpers.garth;)0 -
Is the fan running?
Does it turn off when there is just the fan running?(no heat)0 -
as you state in your post it is the thermal overload that is cutting out, make sure the fan is working on the cold setting first, if it is unplug it from the mains and vacuum out the inside of it the best you can, plug it back in and try again, advice would be to try it by plugging it into an rcd protected plug, if it does it again buy a new one as its !!!!!!edYou may click thanks if you found my advice useful0
