Hi

We would like a new mobile phone with camera for our 10 yr old, he already has a basic mobile phone but would now like one with a camera, any recommendations, would prefer payg on 02. We would like a phone that is not too compilicated to use but with a decent camera.

Many thanks

For a decent camera Sony C510 - would cost £80 (inc £10 top up) minus some quidco
  • my 10yr old daughter loves her samsung tocco
  • watching with interest as my 11yo wants a phone with camera too - hope thats ok

is there anything a little cheaper than these as I'm not sure I'd be happy about letting my DD wander about with an £80+ mobile! I don't think my own mobile cost that much LOL I was thinking £50 max? Any ideas?

i know you are both looking for phones but incase you haven't decided on a network yet.

T-Mobile do Solo Fixed, which is basically a monthly fee for x mins and texts, and then anything extra has to be done through top ups.

e.g. SOLO15 FIXED, for £15/m gives you 350 mins and unlimited texts. 30 day contract only. Anything on top of the 350 mins requires your son or daughter to 'top up', just like pay as you go. It means you can never get a bill for more than £15 each month via direct debit without topping up.

Thought it would be useful for parents with young children. I just find normal pay you go credit goes very quickly and this way it is unlikely the child will use more than 350 mins/unlimited texts but if they did, you would never see a high bill.

I did used to have a Samsung J600. This is very easy to use and has a camera with it. However, the keys are too sensitive. It cost me about £40 - but that was with a trade-in. (£10 off)

i think camera phones should be banned for anyone under 13, its far too young to have a camera phone, there are too many bad stories about yound children with camera phones coming to harm because of them and the ease of use and abuse. but thats just my opinion.

I was surprised it took till the eighth post for the horror story post to arrive.....Parenting and trust goes a long way.

as i said its only my opinion, and i will always assure that make a point to be fair and trusting whilst still maintaining some sort of boundaries in which i will be sure my children come to no harm... if i ever become a parent!! i just know i would have never trusted myself as a 10 year old!!
