Just a quick note if your moving quaters, I have been in the army for 10 years and each move has had its problems but got to admit WHITES REMOVAL Company is the worst.
I went for a full house pack earlier this year due to my being away it took 2 days. When we arrived at Colchester half our things where missing. What had happened was they had not finished the kitchen and broke the washing machine and tumble dryer.
If your moving just make sure they do it properly as I had to go back up to York to collect all my kitchen things.
I have got to say WHITES REMOVALS have been removed from our list.

I know it's hard if you're not there when they pack for you, but didn't you have someone in the quarter when they loaded up? I appreciate you were away, but did your partner not supervise on your move day?

What damage did they do to the washing and tumble drier? Depending on what happen, you should be covered on your house insurance for them.

Make sure you sure a letter of complaint to Whites and send a copy to the moving cell.

  • Disney,

This should really be in the Praise, Warnings & Vent part of the forum.

    Alias
  • The washing machine was broken and tumble dryer both scrapped. Whites managing director was a joke. In all the years I have moved this company was the worst.
I mean I was not aware I had to babysit them whilst they packed my house. Every other removal company knew what to do.
Finally they payed up and I got new machines.
At end of the day they are there to pack my house and they did not do that. I mean there where 5 of them.
    JOKE

  • I was there the first day then had to leave. The second day my husband was there off and on due to work commitments.
At the end of the day i went for a full pack and this company really let me down. Broke wachine machine and tumble dryer.
Just be aware of Whites Removals

  • Let me get this right....
    - you weren't there to supervise them packing and loading your things,
    - they broke your washing machiner & tumble drier, but paid out for relacements
    - your hubby didn't check the house before they left to make sure everything had gone
-now you want to slate them?

IMO you're leaving a lot of things to chance. It's not a case of babysitting the removals, its a case of making sure they look after YOUR things. I've moved 9 times and Whites have done 4 of the moves for me. I suppose we've been lucky as we found them nothing but helpful, careful and quick. They've never done a full pack as I'd rather know what's in each box and sort through things as I pack. I'd never dream of throwing the keys at them and let them get on with it. It seems you did and you've paid the price.

I'm not sure what you're getting at...they missed some of your things in the pack. These things happen. Normally you'd have noticed this on your march out or when your hubby did a quick look 'round before the wagon left. They broke a couple of applicances and have replaced them which is fair enough. I think it's a lesson learned for next time to stay with them on moving day.

  • I have never had any problems with a move before this. Yes hard lesson to learn I agree, maybe I was a bit to relax as I have never had any problems till now.
But got to admit I will not be using whites again and wanted to make people aware of this, especially if your going for a full pack. I have always packed my house and will go back to doing that from now on.

  • My Hubby is a removal man. Many of his customers have used one of the big national firms in the past and comment on how much better the service provided by my hubby is. The problem whith a lot of the big firms is that they recruit poorly trained staff on casual contracts at minimum wages (who do not give a fig about the company's reputation or your goods) and make you sign lots of paperwork filled with clauses to cover themselves if they do a poor job.

Like many of the small local firms, my hubby is present at every removal his company does to ensure that his customers get tip top service. We don't have a flashy website or huge directory ad and to be honest we don't need it as most of our work comes from recommendations.

My advice to anyone who is in a position to choose their removal firm would be to ask around for recommendations from friends, family or colleagues. And if the guy who comes to do the quote is carrying a clipboard and wearing a shirt and tie, chances are he is not going to be the one getting stuck in and actually moving you.
Twins, twice the laughs, twice the fun, twice the mess!:j:j
  • Yeh your totally correct he did come with a clip board shirt and tie. And was no-where to been seen after that.

We have used Whites before with no problem. They were told that it was supposed to be a 2 day move but packed us up and put it all in our new place the same day. Very grateful as we faced sleeping on the floor of new place with a one year old child, a dog and a cat lol!

Best ones we had though was Britannia for a move up to Scotland. They packed the whole house up and delivered it all with no problems. :T

Personnally I wouldn't dream of leaving them alone to sort my house out (control freak in me!!) although I know this is not always possible for some folk.

Good luck with any future moves.
