I know it's only a small saving, but I'm assuming that you're Specsavers cost is going towards monthly contact lens?

I've just changed from the same scheme to one with Boots that is £6.50 per month (saving £42 per year).

The downside is that the Boots scheme doesn't include the solutions.

The upside is that if you're anything like me, then you probably have a stockpile of the Specsavers solution which can also be used with the Boots lens'. Another good point is that you get Boots advantage points on your lens' and also a free eye test every two years (worth around £15).

As I said, not a huge saving, but a saving nonetheless.

Has your OH considered some part time taxi work? A lot of the companies around here take on casual drivers and he could work this around his carer job?

Keep smiling things will get better x

I wish I had a stockpile of the Specsavers solution :) But I certanly look in to it. It migth turn out to be an advantage with the points in the long run. I save them for christmas gifts

Also with part time taxi work. Our car at the moment is not plated as a taxi(this cost money) if he rents a car from the company they will take a third of his wages. And he also has to pay 50 pound a week for the rent of the radio in the car. At the moment it is not posible.

I might have missunderstood you, but I dont see how this could benefit me. I dont have any creditcards. I got two loans and a large overdraft. Does it work for that as well?
Yes it works on loans too. I said on your credit, not credit cards.

Re house insurance, I paid £145 with CIS for a two bed mid terrace and I have a lodger, which I thought was good. It's worth trying CIS - they always win the Mirror Money awards.

No it would not be worth it plus you would never get a loan anyway, your best bet is DMP speak to payplan or the cccs both of whom can help you

Sorry can you explain what DMP, payplan and cccs stands for. Never come across these before.

As far as I am aware, DMP stands for Debt Management Plan, correct me if I am wrong someone:o . And this is your arrangement with your creditors for paying off your debts.

Payplan and CCCS (Consumer Credit Counselling Service) are charities that help you sort out your debts. From what I've heard they are very good. They are just up there(!!) above the posts where it says "helpful links"

A big thank you to everyone who given me advise so far. :T
I have contacted the cccs who advised me to change bank (which I'm about to do this morning)
    I've lowered my h.h ins from 29.62 to 17.96/month
Will look at my gas/electricity supplier today and see if any changes can be made.
I have also contacted Inland Revenue and asked if I'm entitled to anymore working tax credit. Should have reply from them by tomorrow.

It might not look like much but at least I got the ball rolling
