I think that you should definately be entitled to more. Cna you break down what those benefits are or look at the other website suggested?
Now for the figures!
Monthly outgoings;
Household ins. - 29.62 ( contents? Have you checked this is the cheapest?)
I've just changed it, it was the cheepest I could find Content/Building but I can search again.
Council Tax - 76.83 Im hoping I can ask for them to lower this but they are asking for 3month proof of income and we have not got that yet since my husband just reasently stoped being self employed
House phone - 56.61 ( this is SO high, you should use prediallers or something like Primus 2 ( all your evening & weekend calls up to 11/2 hours to landlines- FREE) Most of our calls are to mobiles (our friends dont have housephones) or calls to my parents in Sweden (they do try to call me back to lower the cost
AA car ins - 68.05 ( have you checked this is the lowest? is this breakdown insurance?? ) I think it is third party fire and theft. not sure my husband took it out last month, he said it was cheaper than what we had. I will search for a cheaper one
Specsavers - 10.00 ( again have you checked this is the cheapest)
I have done searches but not found any cheaper
Car ins (end Sept) - 50.00 ( 2 sets of car insurance? Why?)
Bank loan - 88.71/month (3,000 7.3% APR)
Loan 2 - 166.51/month (12,000 10.71% interest rate)0 -
Why we got two car insurance?
Try to tell a long story short.
My husband met a chap last year who started of his own taxi company and he asked if my husband wanted to join him. My husband said no. Six month later the guy asked him again and my husband was now more interested. The company was doing well but was in debt. My OH looked through his papers and saw a way to turn the company arround.
Instead of buying his way into the company he accepted to take on half the debts. So in October 2005 we joined the taxi company. My husband got one of the company cars (writen in the other guys name) we took the insurance for the car.
This year March 2006 all the debt was paid off and all the money they would earn now would be pure profit.
Come April the guy askes us for all receipts etc for the work my husband done for tax purpose, to take to his accountant.
It turned out that the taxi company was never a set up as propper business with "companys house" (something we found out to late, and I know, we should have asked before we got in to his business)
There were no business, we have just paid off that guys debts, helped him get on his feet again and got nothing for it.
He then took the car off us. (and we are therefor now stuck with the insurance til September).
If I understand my husband correctly we will now claim he has worked as self employed for this guy, and just cut our losses.
Im not sure if this little story make sense to any of you, but that is why we are currently paying for two car insurenses0 -
Sorry to butt in here but if you no longer have the car and it was not owned by your husband you can cancel it immediately.
You cannot insure a car unless it is owed by you so not even sure how you managed to insure it in the first place.
And just another little note maybe your friends should ring you for a while.£2 saver club, over £200 now:

Sorry it doesn't make much sense to me but basically are you saying that you are insuring your husband to drive a car he no longer has? If so you can cancel the insurance policy!

Can you not threaten to take this guy to court unless he pays back your husband whats owed? Surely your husband has been conned and you could take this up with the police?

Thats not actually correct. Otherwise you wouldn't be able to drive hire cars or courtesy cars.
Also for example if my dad owned a car, I could be the sole insured person on it.

Hi Greenpixey, sorry to hear you got ripped off by that other guy. He doesn't necessarily have to be set up as a limited company at companies house... he could have been a sole trader. Can you not just cancel the insurance on the car you no longer own?
Re the car insurance of £68, that is way too high. I'm a learner driver with a 1.4litre car and I'm only paying £45 a month for fully comp...
Also, if I were you, I would just bite the bullet and ring the Inland Revenue if you're concerned about finding money you owe them. I attended a self employed workshop and the lady there said to contact them if money difficulties arose, they can't help you if you don't inform them of your circumstances!0 -
No someone cannot insure a car unless they are the regustered owner. This is for private cars. Hire companies and coutesy car companys have their own type of insurance for this purpose.
If you borrow a friends car you can drive it under your driving of other cars(which is third party only) or be added as a named drivers.

Really? Coz when I was younger I had free insurance with Ford and whenever I had to have a courtesy car they used to switch my insurance over to their courtesy car!

Thats partly true. The courtesy car companies have to insure the cars but your insurance comes into play should you have an accident. You become the third party.
Either way you certainly do not pay insurance for a car you do not own and certainly do not have anymore.£2 saver club, over £200 now:

Hi,
Try Esure for your home insurance. I've got buildings and contents insurance from them for £17.75 a month (3 bed semi).
They were the cheapest I could find at the time (last September).
