  • You are very brave (or possibly foolish but that weould be rude I know!). THere are plenty of well meaning adults that think they know about their contracts and come to grief- a 13yr old with an iphone on a £30+ contract/month.....GULP! She might be a total angel, but but she's only 13- a target for having it stolen from her bag/locker or worse still getting mugged for it- a iphone is worth someone threatening your daughter seriously to aquire it I'm afraid- mine have cheap phones and know to chuck it and run if ever accosted.

Don't rely on a network cap there can be a delay in calls being added to the account.THis mewans if it is lost/stolen and the **** use it for premium/foreign calls you can be waaay over the cap very fast (maybe even before she's confessed to loosing it- or even realised iot has gone). You'll still be liable under these circumstances.
Also as was pointed out on here- phone insurence probably only covers the "owner" which is you not your daughter- have you asked about this??

To the original poster- stick with P+G. I don't know about 3 but we are on O2 as a family- the kids have the deal that if you top up £15/month you get unlimited TXTs and internet for a month (so the credit is used for calls).

DD1 is 16 and has just had the alcatel one touch mini which is a great phone for the price (£34.99 on O2)

ETA I'd be wary with a teen with net access from their phone- I'm afraid I'd be a bit concerned about them accessing inappropriate content or contacting inappropriate people....(and, of course if they access seriously inappropriate stuff, even by accident YOU are the bill payer so it'll come back to YOU).

Well I showed my daughter the Nokia and she likes it.:p:rolleyes:

I've found this deal on Beepy.com

Nokia E63 Blue on the 3 (Three) £20 Texter Inc. Internet tariff 18 month contract

Key features Video Recording, Video Messaging, Video Calling, Voice Dialling, Wi-Fi, Camera with Zoom, MP3 Player, Bluetooth, Camera, Instant Messaging, EDGE High-Speed Data, WAP Enabled, Java Enabled, HTML Browser, 3G (Third Generation), Radio, Picture Messaging, Loud Speaker, QWERTY Keyboard, Tri-Band, Memory Card, Smart Phone, Email, Real Tones, and Organiser.

13 months ½ price line rental on a 18 month contract! (Equivalent after cash back.)

£130.00 Redemption Cash back Your £130.00 line rental redemption cash back is available by redemption in 5 stages:
    £26.00 at month 4, £26.00 at month 8, £26.00 at month 12, £26.00 at month 15, and £26.00 at month 18. cash back

Handset free with contract! As I'm a newbie at this I've a couple of questions. Do these phone sites offer better deals than going direct? Would I get the cashback going in store? And if I buy it now does the contract start immed or when daughter actives the phone?

Interesting opinions on this thread and good points raised. My daughter for the last year has had an expensive phone on PAYG and hasn't lost it or missused it. All her friends are on contracts and as she is interested in the MSM 3 offers thats why she wants the 3 network.

However as I said I'm open to suggestions!
But if ever I stray from the path I follow
Take me down to the English Channel
Throw me in where the water is shallow And then drag me on back to shore!
'Cos love is free and life is cheap As long as I've got me a place to sleep
Clothes on my back and some food to eat I can't ask for anything more

If you go direct to Three, you can get the e63 for £15, be it with only 75 minutes but unlimited texts and internet (there is a limit of fair usage) plus get £35 quidco off I think.
In fact going direct to Three you can get 200 minutes plus unlimited texts/internet for £18 minus £35 quidco.

If you want to pay £20, you should be looking at the e71 which has fast internet.
