Having General Anaesthetic. So scared !

It is nothing to worry about I assure you.
I have had it four times and would have no problem with having it again.
It is the quickest way I know of getting to sleep.I used to be indecisive but now I am not sure.0 -

I really think the fear of not waking up will stop me having the surgery.
It really shouldn't! You will wake up! If they thoughtit were more risky for what is essentially a non -urgent thing, they wouldn't do it!
Afterwards you'll feel pleased....it really is fine!
edit: 25? Your probably better placed than most other age groups! I have had major surgeries through out 20s and woken up every time!0 -

I know i'm young & healthy. But i could have a allergic reaction to the anaesthetic
I'd feel much happier having the surgery with local anaesthetic. But the Surgeon said no way
How am i meant to trust a stranger with my life ?!0 -
I posted a similar topic a month or so ago, I wish I could find the thread for you!
Is it a bad hernia, by the way? My son has 2 (umbilical and a rather obvious epigastric one like an alien!) and decided to just leave them.0 -

Hey Willa,
I'm 27 and have had four generals, the first was when I was nine (I was pretty frightened!) but it's really okay. If you're frightened of needles, ask them if they'll rub on some 'magic' cream (they used to do this for kids, unsure whether they do this anymore??) also they may be able to give you some medicine to make you feel drowsy. If you can, wear some gloves up until you actually have the anaesthetic as I was told that this helps and take deep breaths and don't look at what they are doing. You'll probably be told to count to ten - you won't make it to ten before dropping off!! I think people react in different ways when coming round, may make you feel slighty sick (no more than a mild hangover though!). I really hope you'll be okay. xXxI want a perfect body, I want a perfect soul, I want you to notice when I'm not around0
