Case for mobile SOGA?

My 18 month mobile phone contract has just ran out last month and i have decided to change to a month to month contract instead of being tied down for 18 months. This is a sim only deal so i'm using my previous phone.
Getting to the point - the phone is very tempramental and struggles to function properly (particularly the touchscreen) and i'm wondering if 19 moths is a reasonable amount of time for a mobile phone (model: LG viewty) to work.
If not; has anyone any experience of claimimg back? what would be the process?
I can buy a new phone but i really dont think that i should given that i have paid £35 per month for 18 months for the current one that i have.
Many thanks in advance

Your easiest option will be to use the 2 year warranty supplied with any phone of value these days, i would have thought yours would have this, unless you unlocked the phone to use the new sim, in this case your warranty may be void.Back by no demand whatsoever.0

definately didn't unlock the phone as i didn't need to staying with tmobile.
Should i approach t-mobile or the phone manufacturer about this?0 -

Unfortunately LG handsets only come with a one year manufacturers warranty.0 -

Thanks for clarifying that area for me littlemiss.
Anyone think there is a SOGA case then in terms of a reasonable amount of time?0 -

I think alot of people think that most manufacturers give longer warranties now but LG, Blackberry, Apple, HTC, Motorola (and probably some of the smaller manufacturers) still only give 12 month warranties on their mobiles.0 -
You paid £35 month for the airtime contract, not the phone.
Arguably the phone was provided by the phone company to facilitate that contract.
I don't see that they have any responsibility beyond the term of the contract.0 -

Do people think that 19 months is a resonable amount of time for a mobile to last?
I'm more interested in the principle than the replacement phone.
Does the fact that the manufacturer only offer 1 years warranty suggest 19 months is a reasonable amount of time?0 -
One of the other posters quite rightly posted that the phone comapny may have no obligation beyond the end of the contract? You would need to check the T&C's but I'd tend to agree that the phone wasn't actually purchased, therefore there is no contract, therefore no SOGA..... my opinion, not fact....
But regardless, I think 19mths is questionable for a mobile phone anyway, its a mobile device that tends to get thrown about, dropped, sat on etc... Under SOGA, they might offer to repair, or they might offer a partial refund but to be honest, its value must be low.
I think your best bet would be to purchase a second hand phone on ebay.0
