Wish I could, have you tried the old style board?“The ideas of debtor and creditor as to what constitutes a good time never coincide.”

don't suppose any of you lot can help me troubleshoot my sewing machine problems?
I can.......post here or PM me. I will leave the MSE site up but I am to-ing and fro-ing this evening...so will reply when I can.
I hope I can assist...usually easier to do it in situ as the tension is the thing or incorrect threading....so causing the stitch to 'pink' or the understitch to be too loose.
Needle inserted wrong way around is also common....there is uaually a groove to one side.0 -

It's ok. I solved the problem by dropping the machine and breaking it. Almost had it working except for the needle thread not picking up the bobbin thread and then had to move it for dinner. Dropped it (as the case wasn't secure enough) and the hand crank is now permanently broken.
I'm so depressed. I hate plastic sewing machines.0 -

If you have a strong floor, then consider getting an industrial one...you can buy them at a good price and they can last forever. They are far faster than a standard domestic but you can sew anything (as long as you use the correct needle size and foot.
The presser foot is operated by a pedal that you push with your outer thigh (but you can still take it up with a lever behind the needle bit) and the pedal acts as a brake....so you have to gently press it to release the machine....but apart from that, they are easy to use.
...and fast as anything.....you can knock up a pair of curtains in seconds.;)
I have name of a great guy in London who will teach you how to operate and maintain it plus deliver and service it.
I am buying a cover stitch machine from him when I move back to London.
It does hems...costs about £1500 S/H....so I will only go to him as I trust him.0 -

No space for a proper machine, I'm not that creative, takes me ages to pick a fabric, even longer to decide what to do and then I break the sodding thing.0 -
Sorry for taking this off-topic thread even more off-topic
but has anyone seen Graham recently? Thought the posts seemed a bit 'unbalanced' of late and then realised I haven't seen a post from him for some time now. A Hamish post too many, perhaps?

Perhaps he is having a break?
This board is exhausting sometimes....really tiring and I have never experienced reading stuff ...random stuff and feeling so wrung out afterwards.0
