Yes, it's started here too....and sounds like it will get worse. I can sleep in a hurricane if needs be.
Now if I had that windmill generator thing....;)0 -

I learned to sleep in a noise when I spent long nights at UFO & Middle Earth in the Camden Town Roundhouse back in the 60s. The main band would appear around 02:00 and finish around 03.30, so after that, many of us would roll out a sleeping bag and just kip in front of the stage, while a support act blasted out at full volume overhead!
Must have been a bit disheartening for the late performers!:o0 -
It was yipee no snow ......and then the rain started.
A few days time I will no longer be able to walk against the wind and rain as it is so strong off the sea here.
I've spent many a night in the roof space watching the roof lift and wondering if it was about to disappear. On older houses the roof wasn't always fixed, but relied on the weight of the slate to keep it in place.... at 80mph I realised this wasn't as good an idea as it sounds ... and 80mph would happen at least 3x a year.0 -

Yes, thanks, and I responded to it. It's just one of a few ideas going around in my head.
I was thinking of something bigger, which has to be at least 75m from anyone's house. The idea would be to export electricity to the grid, but you are right, the coastal locations win hands down for viability. I have checked out my location here:

That's quite high. Only 4.7 - 6.1 here.
Still, I'd rather be in a not-so-windy place, because a lot of it is destructive, and tiring too. We have very noticeable wind microclimates here, so some bits of the land stay pretty calm, while others are being battered.0 -
