One of the shots I've put into our family e-Book for 2009 is the place on the River Usk where we'd stop to have fish & chips on the way home from viewings. Seems daft, but I shall miss going there. It was part of our lives, on and off, for four years.:o

    No presents.
    2 cards.

Went out, bought chips and walked down the road eating them .... because I really know how to push the boat out on important occasions :)

Missed this yesterday - Belated Happy Birthday Wishes PN. :kisses3:

    Morning All!

I'M A BIT DEAF THIS MORNING. I HAVE A SPOT OF TINNITUS AFTER GOING TO SEE ALICE COOPER LAST NIGHT. APOLOGIES FOR SHOUTING!

Thought a seasonal k=joke may be worthwhile?

It's Christmas eve, & 3 men have died. They're met at the pearly gates by St Peter, who says "as it is christmas, you must have something that symbolizes Christmas to be let into heaven".

The first chap rummages through his pockets, & pulls out a lighter.

"It's a candle" he says. St Peter steps aside & he enters heaven.

The second man rummages through his pockets & pulls out a set of keys. "These represent bells" he says, jingling them. St Peter steps aside & the man enters heaven.

The third man rummages through his pockets, & eventually pulls out a pair of womens lace panties. He hands them to St Peter.

"What are these?" Says St Peter.

The man winks, smiles, & replied:

    "They're Carols."

    :D

Any one care to share my excitement?

One of this year's new baby chickens has laid her first egg. Its almost as dark as millk chocolate but with an almost bronze hue, and is perfect. :)

    I love eggs!

there really is no comparison to those from your own, or from chickens you know have a better life quality. Colour, texture, flavour...

    Mmmmm, eggs

Yeah, home reared chicken eggs. One of life's true pleasures.

I'm having a shot at curing my own bacon for the first time this week. I'm on day 2 and so far so good. I reckon I've poured about a pint of liquid off a 1.7kg belly of pork.

    That sounds fun Generali!

home read other eggs are good too. When we move the first thing I want is guinea fowl (great meat: nicer than chicken IMO and great eggs...but IME you have to hunt for them!). It goes with out saying we're having ducks and geese too. :D

Turkeys are, I'm assured, very great fun for the poultry keeper, but I have no experience with them we thought about having a couple here this summer for Christmas, but the weather was so foul :D tht we decided to be reserved about stocking rates (considering they spent a lot of time huddled in shelter, lots less room for frayed tempers).

Over here there are problems keeping chickens as I discovered from some friends with a half dozen flock.

The native plants won't tolerate the phosphates that're in chook manure so you have to keep the fowls' fowling away from any Australian plants. The trend over here is to revert as much as possible to natives and to drive out the foreign plants and (non farm) animals so you can't just fill the space with non-native plants unless you want to annoy the neighbours.
