Natwest Cash In machines, how long does it take?

I went against my better judgement today and instead of using the normal way for paying in cash (queueing and handing it over to a employee) I used the new cash in machines, I now regret this. I paid in the money at 11:58AM (2 hours and 44 minutes ago) and it's still not available in my account, normally when I hand the money over at the desk I get it instantly available in my account (I can walk out the door and use the machine outside to withdraw). Does anyone who has experience with this or work at natwest know how long it takes and how I can find out if it had a problem? I'd rather not wait all weekend to go in next week and find out, so if I can know now I can call them (if there's a problem).
I wish they'd say it's delayed... :money:

Mine usually appears overnight, when they empty the machine, but it's backdated to the previous day. With the Nationwide though, as I mis read Natwest0

The same is probably true of Natwest then. I feel a bit !!!!ed if that is the case, at no point was I told there would be a delay, I wish they would be clear exactly how it works before I use the machine. My intention was to use the money online instantly, although now I can't which is causing problems.
Thanks though0 -

How many hours do you think? I paid mine in (£50) at 11:58AM and it's now almost 4PM and nothing showing up online.0 -

Not necessarily, the banks all have different machines that operate in different ways. If you pay cash into a Halifax one it'll be available on your account immediately.0 -

Does that mean when I go into the bank and hand the money over the counter they're using a different system to when I go to the machine and put the money in?Firewallrob wrote: »The new machines the branches use, give immediate credit, whilst the old ones don't (next day). Not sure if all the branches have updated yet ??
The machine has only been there a few months, they're trying to persuade customers to use it.0 -
been to the cashpoint (4:20PM) and it's not registering in my account there, I guess I'll wait until tomorrow morning, if it isn't in I'll go back with my receipt and complain.0

"T&C 4.1.2 (b) if the cash is paid into one of our quick deposit facilities, the money will be added to your balance and credited to your
account for interest purposes on the next business day."
NatWest don't seem to have included any update in the terms and conditions indicating that the newer rapid deposit machines credit cash to accounts any quicker than the old ones (but I have no experience of NatWest's machines - only the old HSBC (next day), new HSBC (instant) and new Halifax (instant). Oh, not forgetting the old-school "letterbox" deposit point at Lloyds (same-day or next day, depending on whether the staff remember to check it in the afternoon!)

Use the bank counters next time, or put the cash in the bank envelope, and then put it in the safe deposit box.
Machines can go wrong at times, just like computers.
If you need the cash to spend straight away, why deposit it in the first place?0 -

The workers were asking people to use the cash in machine, so I used it. I would normally go to the counter, but I'm not one to refuse a helpful person. If you need the cash to spend straight away, why deposit it in the first place?
because I have yet to find putting cash into my computer as a viable method for spending online. If you know of a way, I'm all ears.premierfella wrote: »http://www.natwest.com/personal/current-accounts/g6/terms.ashx

I wish they'd make this clear in the branch or somewhere that isn't buried, because this has caused me a tonne of problems. I assumed that the machine was simply a way to alleviate the need for extra staff to handle the deposits, not to !!!! off customers.
Even though my branch is open on a saturday, does saturday count as a business day? If I have to wait until monday for this money I'm screwed. I really wish they'd disclose exactly how it works next to the machine, instead of just hassling people into using it. At least I know never go near that damn thing again.
