Thank you for your reply Dave. Purely coincidental, I received a call from BT since my last post about an unrelated service, so mentioned it then. It's "being looked at" and someone is supposed to be phoning me back.

    Thank you

  • This happened to me as back in April BT increased their line rental and I had to pay about 5 months line rental in one go so from my £20 a month DD covering everything nicely suddenly I was nearly £40 now in arrears.
Because of this BT increased my monthly payments to £33.50 a month:eek: which clearly is more than a 50% increase!

I've just had my latest bill and the arrears have been cleared and I've overpayed by £34.

BT have refused to drop my DD payment because my account had been in arrears and the £20 was insufficient to cover my bill, even though my current and all previous ones were except where they changed the line rental fees a few months back.

    Dont you just love BT:p

    Hello c00kiemonster

Maybe I can help sort out your direct debit issue's. Drop me an e-mail to btcare@bt.com and I shall see if I can help reduce it back to something more like what it was previously.

    Thanks

They ( BT ) charged me twice for the same month one month last year, OK I got it back after much chasing.

I decided than to move away from BT, best move that I have made.

Incompetence seems to run right through the outfit.

I moved to whole bill direct debit after BT did this to me, I saw someone mention it in another thread (I had not heard of it before) and my bills are v low.

So I now pay monthly by whole bill direct debit. Better because there are no advance charges I think :)

    See my edit.(Result)

What they seem to be seeing is billing period dates for the month and not seeing that line rental in that period is paying for the next months line rental.

Well done:T:T, but it is still grossly incompetent of BT in the first place.
