I hate to ask a daft question...but have you no other door?
One that a key works on until the lock is sorted?

We have the back door but only one key for it (which isnt a problem as can get one cut ... the problem is that you can only open the back gate from the inside (sliding bolt), gate is like 7 foot high with no way of opening it from the outside0
