Typical,my reward saver matures on Monday and I was looking at the 1 year at 3.5%,now down to 2.35%.

    D1zzy,
Did you find a new home for yours or hasn`t it matured yet?

Also read today that a lot of savers that applied for the NS&I 3.95% are getting their cheques returned and have missed the boat.

Mine matures Tuesday - so I'm now thinking some to Britannia (there is a branch on the High street and Halifax will give me a cheque to hand over) and then some into a 2 year Halifax,@ 4.2% ( as its an easy option) that willl leave me over the 50K with HBOS by about 10K as I have a SAGA 5 yr, but I think I'll take the risk. The other option is some with Kent Reliance @ 4.25. Also just did an NSI 15K 3yr index linked certificate - no idea if that's a good thing or not -its my little hedge against mega inflation ;)

Next Problem  is coventry Poppy bond maturing end of December.....

I've stuck some into the NS&I index-linked as well - doesn't need mega-inflation either, a couple of years of RPI around 3% and you're on a winner (assuming you pay standard-rate tax).

Me too with the Poppy bond - maybe another NS&I issue by then...

I've been sticking my spare cash into NSI Index linked lately. I thought, "why am I finding savings accounts for my cash?" And I decided it was to protect it against inflation. So I stick it in the NSI Index linked, job done, and sleep tight.

That said I've got a fair sum in a fixed-interest ISA with Skipton maturing soon. I'm considering sticking that in the NSI Index Linked as well but that would mean sacrificing its ISA status. Decisions decisions...

I had a call from the Cov. yesterday about the Poppy Bond maturity.
They will be writing to each account holder giving the options available in early Dec.
There will be a 1 year fix but she couldn`t give me the rate at present.

Taking into account the tax free status, my & OH's current 3 year ones(1.5% bonus -ending feb) are currently averaging about 4.5% gross a year, which doesn't sound too bad - except we could have got 6-7% for 2 of the years even on 1 year fixes -so ya pays yr money & ya takes yr chance :D

I tested the faster payment from Halifax current today and it arrived at the non halifax account within 2 hours.
    I sent £1k.
Can you tell me if this is the maximum amount you can send and if so,how many faster payments can go through in one day.
Also any tips about varying the amounts or will it be OK to send the same amount each time?

As far as I know it is USUALLY restricted to £1,000 PER ACCOUNT, PER PAYEE - i.e. no repeat payments with Halifax (unless someone else can contradict that experience?) I have ever only mangaged to send £1000 per Halifax current account, not multiple £1,000s (Not what we should have to accept at this stage, I agree..)
