BT lines and Sky BB

Hello,
Hope someone can help. I have an inactive BT line to my home, long story short I moved property transferred BT, got charged again for activation which set us back a little, anyway line cancelled and paying back bit by bit. I have Sky tv and would like the speak and surf too. Does anyone know if I have to clear debt and re join BT to have sky BB or will Sky just use the existing line for their own services?
