I recieved my 8 sets,2 platters on wednesday...unfortunately 1 box had broken items :( ,i informed the lovely customer service lady today that my items were damaged, she kindly advised me that they were out of stock but THURSDAY they will get more stock in(for all those that missed out)and then she will ship my box out :D

can some one pls post a pici of the salt pepper set, would appreciate thanks.

Well I've gone through all mine and no breakages, BUT of the 10 sets I have..
2 bowls with flaws in the glaze,
2 bowls with small dots under the glaze (just me being picky I think!),
2 dinner plates with scrathes/scuff marks on them,
1 side plate with a dimple,
1 side plate with a scratch,
1 side plate with a mark under the glaze (again being picky here!)
1 platter with 3 dimples on it.
    Cups and saucers all fine.

Do you think they will replace them for these flaws?
TBH I can live with the "dots" but would like to replace the 2 sets with dimples and scratches.

Fireys do they arrange to collect the returns as I don't fancy returning them myself via the P.O.!
    Thanks.

2 diner plates have spots and raised bumps
1 cup has a lump of glazing inside cup

gonna ring up and see if they'll change just the faulty items

Was looking forward to this bargain of the century so :o with having some of them faulty. But still a brill find
  • change them youre not paying for seconds and mine are flawless! i love mine :D
  • For information - Royal Doulton have confirmed that the 'microwave safe' message on the bottom of each piece is incorrect. They are not microwave safe.

Oh, that's a huge pain. At Xmas when there is loads to cook I like to reheat the plates for a minute before serving just to make sure everything is piping hot. Wonder if that's why they were so cheap.

The Doulton Platinum range is edged with a metallic paint. If you put it in your microwave it will go snap, crackle and pop. :D

Pop your plates at the bottom of the oven for 5 mins before you serve Crimbo Dinner, just remember to warn your guests about hot plates.

Did they say anything about dishwasher safe? I did wonder, as I'm always super cautious about putting anything with metallic paint in there. It doesn't really matter to me (stupid dishwasher won't take plates bigger than 25cm) but it might matter to some others on here!

My Mum had a Doulton service years ago that was trimmed in gold paint. She had it in and out of the dishwasher and the paint did lift and fade over time but she used it everyday. I'm keeping mine for 'best' so the occasional whizz through the dishwasher shouldn't do it too much harm. ;)

Says on back on each item dishwasher safe and microwave safe.
    Kind Regards
