help needed asap

The water bill is paid twice a year and was last paid on 1st april. It is in my housemates name, however tomorrow she is moving out (she has only just given me the paper work etc.) and I need to change it to my name. I am concerned they will charge me for my water from the date I register even though I have paid some of it via my housemate.

My housemate says they won't charge me until october when the next payment is due. This doesn't seem right to me. Will I be charged for water as of tomorrow or will they wait until october?

You are correct in thinking that you will be charged for water from today.
They will send a final bill which should be in credit. So I suggest that your housemate will owe you half this refund.
You will need to give them a reading if you are on a meter

we aren't on a meter. She told us we might as well just change the name and and not bother about her getting a rebate. I will be ring the water company in a bit so will see what happens.
