i make it VERY clear on my listings that if im selling a laptop etc which sell for around £700 to include an extra 3% if wishing to use paypal. I do not force people to use paypal as i offer other payment methods. I am also a powerseller which ebay gave me for being a good seller and I have 1000+ feedback so I do know a bit about ebay!

Powerseller or not you might want to re visit the terms and conditions of using ebay and surcharging:

    http://pages.ebay.co.uk/help/policies/listing-surcharges.html

It is even clearer in paypal where it says here:

    https://www.paypal.com/uk/eBay/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=p/gen/ua/policy_payments-outside

    under section V1

No Surcharges. You agree that you will not impose a surcharge or any other fee for accepting PayPal as payment on eBay.co.uk. This is in accordance with eBay UK's surcharging policy which states: "Sellers who accept electronic money services as a means of payment for an item purchased on eBay may not impose a surcharge.

More worrying is the fact that by breaching paypal terms and conditions you automatically lose any seller protection on the transaction and are therefore liable to lose money in the long run.

Obviously you missed the part about surcharges then :naughty:

It doesn't really matter if you make it clear to your buyers or not. YOU pay all fees and that's that!

Let's just agree that if 15lsp was to get reprimanded by Ebay that's their look out and not anyone elses.

    Just chill!!!!

Totally agreed, there are too many people on here who need to relax and spread some happiness

Oh dear! Have I upset you? Many swallow up their fees with postage. At least im honest and upfront about it. If you were MY BUYER then maybe I would consider what you are saying. But you're not and my buyers are totally happy with my service and goods.

Sorry tibbie's Mum, i was only offering advice as I am an experienced & regular ebayer & i did not want this to turn into a childish spat.

Life is way too short to be nasty, must be why i prefer dogs to humans.:rotfl:

    I'm quite chilled thank you...

Maybe if people didn't sign up for terms and conditions that they either have no intention of abiding by, or didn't bother reading then we could all chill.

Ebay and paypal say no surcharges, what is there not to understand?

If someone is breaking the rules unintentionally then surely it is a good thing that others post about it to warn them?

I'm perfectly calm, just making my point.

I am slightly annoyed that eBayers like you who deliberately break the rules are still allowed to trade on eBay.

It doesn't matter if I was your buyer or not you should not be charging any buyers. How do you know that they are happy? I'm sure if they had the choice of paying 3% less or 3% more they would choose the latter.

Look I do not intend to annoy or rip off anyone ok. Im sorry if you disagree with my methods.

To answer your question Razorbladekisses I know for a fact that the buyers of my high end items are pleased because I keep in contact with them. I sell apple macs and I know a lot about them so i offer a service off ebay to help the buyers who need it by giving them my tel number and email address. 9 out of 10 people are still in contact with me. How many ebayers would offer that service? Once sellers get their money they dont care in most cases.

You know what people are like with computers they mess around dont know what they are doing and the next thing they have deleted something important.

For all my items I pay all the costs. However I dont want people using paypal for expensive things for obvious reasons. So adding 3% on puts people off and they pay with a bank transfer or cash on collection. Yes i let people into my home...im i going to get critised for that too?

Remember we do not live in a perfect world. Show me someone who doesn't bend the rules to suit themselves in one way or the other & im not just talking about ebay.

Have a pleasant evening, Regards Laura

p.s Todate i am yet to charge paypal fees to any buyer as they choose to pay with other methods. So I have broken no ebay/paypal rule.

No need to keep quiet. I'm sorry your thread got hijacked by a discussion about breaking ebay rules.
