I have been buying DVDs from America, as I travel there often, but when i play them on my computer i have to change the region code! I did not realise this until it would not let me play American DVDs.

Is there anyway i can reconfigure my computer so it will playany region of DVD without a problem?

    DVD43 (freeware)

It sits in your system tray, has a smiley face when its working, looks miserable when it's not :D

It could have been worse. At least source code's not combustible, or you can bet somebody at McAfee would have lit it.

You need a hack to make your drive Region 0 which involves flashing the firmware of your drive.

It's perfectly legal and there are numerous sites that will enable you to download the relevant flash file but you'll invalidate the warranty on the drive and, if you're clumsy, you could kill the drive entirely.

people like you are the reason i signed up to this site.
    that is blatant mis-information. you're talking cr*p.

A program likeAnyDVD is all you need sahun, like the freeware program posted previously.
please ignore the nonsense about 'hacking' your drive, it's bunkum.

You've installed the program, and chose to start the program at Start Up haven't you? You need to right click on the little face, put a tick against 1) Remove audio cd protection 2) Remvoe analogue video copy protection.

Reboot your system. Once the little face appears again in the system tray, insert a disk into the drive and let it start playing. The face will turn green and start 'smiling' at you.

In fairness to chuckles1066 reply above - he's more correct! The OP only wants to play multi region dvd's on his pc -not copy them - the programs mentioned only circumvent the copy protection (which is illegal of course!) - they don't suddenly make a dvd drive region free!

No worries now, i have installed niceguyrichy's program and it is now working fine, the only problem is the fact that after 21 days i will have to pay for it!

If anyone knows of some free ones out there that would be nice.

There's a whole list on a reputable site. I haven't actually used them though as I've gone the hacking the firmware route instead

isnt anyDVD just a program for copying DVD's and to remove copy protection and region coding as far as I know it doesn't just let you watch movies on your PC (I could be wrong though)
