  • Hi All
Please can you add me Newlifeahead.

I have been trying to read all the post over the last few days but it has been moving fast so decided to just join now if that is ok.

There is just me, DS1 and DS2. I am trying to clear my debts as quickly as possible and to cut down on the unneccessary purchases. Trying not to get back into bad habbits.

My budget will be for £6000 which does not include mortgage, council tax, TV licence and water as I cannot change any of these. I thing anything less may be too hard for my first go.

I am hoping to save the rest from my wage after all bills to clear my debts and have some savings.

I am looking forward to starting this challenge and hopefully having a great year this year.

This link is for a pdf file of bath and beauty products to make yourself. When I have time I will look out the book I have.

I'm also one of the people who cannot wait for this year to end, it has been a year of survival where as next year is a year of living.

    Thats exactly how I feel.

Well in my quest to reduce my outgoings I made some liquid detergent yesterday. Here is mine.

Half a bar of Aqua soap (grated) = approx 12 pence
Half cup of Napisan = approx 20p
Half cup of Soda Crystals = approx 10p
Few drops eucalyptus oil = pence.

I would estimate about maximum 50p for a 4 litre bottle of liquid detergent. Not bad. I heated it all up on the stove in a large saucepan stirring, then let it cool and decanted through a funnel into a 4 litre milk bottle (plastic thingy).

    It works great.

    Hi Larmy

I have tonnes of little bars of soap so I thought I might try some home made soap liquid. Can I check, when you say half a bar of aqua soap, is that just normal soap?! Just want to make sure I get it right - cheers :)

    P.S. Been reading this:

Should I get Borax rather than Napisan? :)

    Hi

I would love to jon this challenge please, I am armed with Cheryl's fantastic spreadsheet and will spend the next couple of days setting a budget. Our circumstances are due to change at some point during 2010 - my hubby is to be made redundant and will find out next week when this is likely to be (a shock to both of us as he has been there since 15). Anyway, we are me (40 SAHM), OH (57 working at present) and DS (6), three fish and a guinea pig.

I am looking forward to being a member of this special group, having been a long time lurker/reader/fan from the other thread.

Happy New Year to you all

    Hello everybody,

Well I've gone around the house and car and have squirrelled away all loose money and put it into my Sealed Pot, so now I'm starting the new year with a clean slate. Any spends from now on are out of ' The Budget '.

I don't think I've posted my budget figure yet, so I will go back and check and then I'll post the details later.

For now though I will just wish you all a very Happy New Year and wish everyone all the best for 2010, good luck with your challenges.

    Toodles.
