Hi, ELM and thanks very much for posting.
What sort of paint did you use exactly, is it matt or gloss and did you have to prepare the wood in any way?
This would be ideal to give me a different look and for not much money.
Hi
I just gave the wood a good wash with sugar soap and then sprayed - I think you're supposed to lightly sand the wood but I didn't - I used a matt spray - you can get the tins of spray paints from any of the big diy stores - I used a small gloss roller to run over any drips as it does run in places. Also for a book case I have wall papered the back of the shelves with a modern wall paper - it looks fab. Remember to do it outside and put some dust sheets around. It's worth a try - I love mine. You can also buy some glass crystal door knobs or modern steel ones if you have any drawers on the furniture ?Started this journey in 2013 (on a previous diary) with approx 94,000 total of morg and debt combined

Thanks, I think I may give it a try.0 -
Made an op of £60 to m1 today to make me feel better.
On the way to work, my car was hit from behind so feeling a tad down at the mo. It will need a full new back panel as far as I can see but fortunately no one was hurt and . . . . at the end of the day it is only metal. Not had this happen before and its quite a shock to the system. I started shaking (stupid woman). If I hadn't overlaid in the first place!!!!
I do know whose fault it is, mine actually. I washed the car for the first time this year on Sunday. The other driver wouldn't have seen me otherwise.

Hi, Im fine thanks just a bit peeved tbh. Its just had its full service, tax and a clean! I'm never washing a car again
I've taken it to a local garage who had a good look and its worse than I thought as apparently, the whole boot has cracked underneath. The mechanic said if it was a metal floor instead of rubber/hard plastic, the car would be classed as written off!! The quote is £1450 so I have told the guy it will have to be sorted through insurance now. We both didn't want to obviously because of the excess and no claims etc.
No idea how this works as not happened before but I will ring the insurance company later when I have his full details. The guy fortunately works at the same place so he can't get away from me
I guess I won't be paying any more ops for a month or two as I need to find the excess.0 -
I have read your diary in bursts today it is very inspirational. Thanks for sharing and good luck.0

Thank you tootallulah, hope your retirement is going well.
Quick update today, car is going to be sorted out by the other person's insurance company which is great so I don't need to claim on mine now. No excess to find. Yay.
It goes in tomorrow for an estimate.0 -
Why, oh why do I go to c***co? I know full well that I will end up spending and I don't have the money to do it, so why do I go?
I had a wonderful couple of hours wandering, tasting and then ultimately buying, thinking goody, more stocks to stick in the 'end of the world as we know it zombie apocalypse' store cupboard! You know how it is, that thought "well just in case I need it" one.
Well, what can I say. If the world does come to an end, we should be alright on stocks of washing up liquid, laundry powder, fruit juice and chocolate milk! I seriously need to get a life and get out more
On a different note, we did go out yesterday afternoon and went strawberry picking. I bought 5lbs worth so will be eating them and the 1kg of cherries for the week as snacks!
Also spent 3 hrs at the allotment yesterday morning doing the weeding. I have some fab onions!0 -
Sorry about car. Mine was hit from behind a couple of weeks ago and it was quite a shock. Luckily it would appear no damage sustained.Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became
In the event the proverbial hits the fan then co-habitees are better stashing their cash than being mortgage free !!0 -

That's good news about yours Watty at least. I'm still waiting to hear when mine goes in now. It doesn't look too bad from outside but the boot floor is completely cracked underneath.
I put in my electric and gas readings today, as I do every month. I'm now in credit by £242 which sounds nice. My fixed tariff is due to end in October but I have already been told by MSE's energy checker that I am paying too much. I will have to pay £50 in early exit fees if I move now or I could wait another two months to change. So will moving now make me better off by £50? Need to think on it.0
