It will be Flower and I'm aiming not to have to dip into it towards the end of the month. From this month I'm going to do the loose change savings thing which I think Dinah does - where you round down the amount in your bank account to the nearest fiver at the end of each day, so you're saving a little all the time without really noticing - so hopefully I'll be able to boost the Moving Out Fund this month too!
Hope it is a nice surprise for you on Friday and the taxman doesn't take too much!Weightloss: 14.5/65lb0 -

I do this most days, its a really good way of saving without noticing the money going.

Hoping to put a big chunk of it into savings as OHs wages usually pay most of the other expenses we have. Friday cant come soon enough!
Great news thats your OD will be paid off though, now you can concentrate on saving to move out (and you'll be able to have a sneaky peak at houses on rightmove!).Biggest Loser Weight Loss: 13 / 20 lb0 -
How much do you find yu save that way per month then? I've set up my little piggy account on the side of my Current account to siphon the pennies off so am excited to use it
Don't worry I've already been having sneaky peeks on rightmove!!Weightloss: 14.5/65lb0 -
I'd say through rounding down each week we can save anything from £15 to £30 each week. It obviously depends how much you want to round down - if we havent got a lot of money one week we will just round to nearest £5 but if we are feeling a bit more flush it will be nearest £10.
We also set up a standing order each week out of OHs account and i put a lump sum in when i get paid, but is nice to see the savings creep up just through the rounding down.
I keep having sneaky peaks at rightmove aswell, but have got my eye on a house that would be perfect for us. It is being renovated at the mo and we basically have first refusal for it, but it obviously depends whether or not we are ready to move once its finished.Biggest Loser Weight Loss: 13 / 20 lb0 -

That would be brill if you can clear the OD this month! And £62 per week sounds totally doable. I might have to start rounding down too and instead of saving, I could make a payment off a debt once I hit £25 for example.
I sometimes wonder whether people at the bank think we're all mad transferring minuscule amounts of cash about all the timeOoh, I sold a book on Amazon that's been listed since last June - £14! Not bad, eh...
Flower, keep us posted on the house! Do you definitely want/need £4k saved before you can move out?LBM Sep 2008 debt: £27,927.04start weight: 140.2, week 2: 1380 -

Its negotiable really. Basically in our old flat as it was out first place together alot of the stuff we had was borrowed off my mum who was living abroad at the time. But she moved back to England about the same time we moved in with OHs parents. So we are going to need at least £1500 for deposit, first months rent and letting agent fees, the rest would be for furniture, bed, tv, white appliances etc...
But seriously considering just going for the house and worry about furniture after! Its such a good house at a good price to miss out on!Biggest Loser Weight Loss: 13 / 20 lb0 -

Lol! When we moved into the flat we bought all we had was a one bar heater (in November in Scotland) 2 deckchairs, and an inflatable bed. We got a bed after a few weeks but had to wait 3-4 months for other things. And do you know what - we really appreciated it when we got the stuff. If we had been living in Ireland we would have gotten 2nd hand stuff from other people but we didn't know anyone in Scotland so we had to make do.
It always makes me smile though, as that Xmas we still had no furniture but had the most beautiful Xmas treeTotal (Aug 19):€58,567 Now:€26,947

Yep that was us for a while until we got hand me downs. Im going to sound really snobby now, but i dont want to do that again - think we would both rather stay at OHs parents a bit longer and then have a sofa to sit on and a bed to sleep in when we move!
And OHs parents are happy for us to be there as long as we keep paying rent, so everyones happy. I am secretly hoping payday will see quite a boost to ourt savings, but trying not to get my hopes up because i am not sure how many of my hours will be in next months pay cheque.Biggest Loser Weight Loss: 13 / 20 lb0 -

It's definitely the more sensible option - to stay put. I don't think I could do it again either. I love my creature comforts too much!Total (Aug 19):€58,567 Now:€26,947
