Push email?

I understand that push email does away with manual send/receive. With my contract I've apparently got unlimited push email but, don't emails get counted in as part of internet data?

The reason it's confusing is because my monthly data has a 500mb limit so if I download like 2gbs worth of emails, which should be counted as internet data, will it be fine? There seems to be a contradiction here.

If this is push on a Blackberry then its more complicate than that.

Push is talking to the email server all the time, so the amount of data isn't just what you download as mail. The phones sending your log on info every few seconds, all that data is counted as well as the emails you receive and send.

I was talking to a guy a while ago who had a standard phone (without push) and had his phone picking up mail every 15 minutes. In a month he used over 30 meg just checking. Push uses far more.
With a push bundle (blackberry bis) all that data is included.

Thanks for the reply but I am not using a Blackberry. How does my network differentiate between data and push? Does unlimited push apply to my Gmail App and my Mail App - how does it all work?

If it's not a BB I really don't know. The BB bundle just give you push by giving you free access to the RIM server (where the Blackberry send/receive mail).

It could just be an internet bundle of some kind ?
Which network are you on?

Also bear in mind that no networks bundles are ever really 'unlimited'. There's always a 'fair usage policy', if you tried to download 2gig as in post 1, you'd defiantly fall foul of it...

No. That was the point I was making. I doubt it happens to 99.9999% of people who use email.
