I got the same email, I think they are being not entirely honest. If hey have made a mistake then why can't they just own up rather than muck people around?Joe

Well its been a while - wondering has anyone received theres yet? I'll be checking after they have cancelled my order to see if they miraculously source stock from somewhere.0

Haven't heard anything yet
Might email a few suppliers and Canon to see if there really is a shortage.
There's also a thread on HotUKDeals discussing it:

Woh. Last time I looked nothing was on there! Few replies since. Mirrors my experience. Local store had some in stock when I visited.0

They are mucking us about. I am certain the camera is not discontinued - if it is what's the replacement model? It's not the 65 because that was launched
at the same time with a higher spec, and I would doubt if there is any great shortage.
I have googled the SAVE-IX60 code and one of the hits is a Kelkoo page, if you click the link there is no mention of SAVE-IX60, but if you click the cached version like this http://66.102.9.104/search?q=cache:fmOScdG0Bv8J:shopping.kelkoo.co.uk/b/a/ss_canon_tcdc58n.html+SAVE-IX60&hl=en&gl=uk&ct=clnk&cd=21ricerunner.
One of the entries listed says
"Canon IXUS 60 DIGITAL CAMERA
11 product ratings: Product Rating: Good Write a review!
Price includes £80 discount. To claim your discount enter voucher code SAVE-IX60 in the Trolley box marked Voucher Code
Delivery Cost: Free - Department: Digital Cameras
£198.99 View+offer Canon IXUS 60 DIGITAL CAMERA"
So what I reckon happened was that the code was released when the price was £278.99, a typical Jessops price, then the price was reduced to £233 but the code wasn't cancelled. So somebody in the know posted the code for all to see and lots of us ordered. Jessops then went "oh !!!!!! we're not going to honour that price!" but rather than just say that to our faces they are playing the "oh we can't get stock" charade.
Why? Their terms and conditions state "We reserve the right to withdraw any item from sale, at any point prior to dispatch, for whatever reason." So why don't they just own up that they have screwed up and cancel the orders immediately? I would be Ok with that there's nothing wrong in an honest mistake.
They are acting like complete idiots as far as I am concerned. Very unprofessional. Maybe someone in the management team of the webstore is trying to hide the cockup from those higher up in management and protect themselves.Joe

Nice findings, speedyjoe.
They are usually way overpriced, they don't compete with many other online retailers. Hence low sales, and lack of experience in online trading. It's clear that they have no clue, this is probably the most amount of orders they've ever had in such a short period.
This made me chuckle:
I don't have much time to chase this up unfortunately. Hopefully there will be a big enough backlash when they eventually cancel the orders.
Also I doubt they are making much of a loss on these, Jessops has HUGE buying power. These cameras go for around £190, thats only a £36 difference. They may even be making some profit. God knows what they're playing at.
If they truly can't get stock they should offer us an alternative.
I see some new Jessops voucher codes have showed up on HotUKDeals. They need to sort out their existing orders first before taking on a load more!0 -
If you can hang on for the re stock I would definately recommend this camera. I bought one from Jessops at £180 a few months ago, this was the cheapest price around roughly £100 cheaper on line than their stores. It is a new model and easy to use and takes great pictures. Hope you all manage to snap up this bargain, it is well worth waiting for.0
