For those that missed out on the cracking Canon IXUS 60 digital camera for £153.99 at Jessops - some info I discovered today.
Jessops are claiming that the product is being discontinued hence the short supply. So I gave Canon UK a call, and they confirm they currently have no plans to retire the product, so I think Jessops are perhaps playing the 'discontinued product' line to get away from the large numbers of orders they have to fulfill.
Furthermore, I went to Jessops at Canary Wharf this afternoon, and I enquired about the availability of the Canon IXUS 60, he said it would be 1-2 weeks for delivery but that he can see a 1000 IXUS 60's being shipped to their warehouses very shortly!!
So if you haven't cancelled your order, then its probably best to hang on in there.
Can anyone else confirm if they've approached the Jessops branch and made enquiries - would be very interested to hear the response from other branches.
Fingers crossed, we may get the goods after all.

They sure do seem to be trying it on. No doubt after 4 weeks they'll 'helpfully' cancel all existing orders then the Ixus 60 will miraculously rise from the ashes the following week..
Nice work Scoob!"I am not Geoff Vadar, I'm Darth Vadar"0 -
Do Jessops part exchange?
I quite fancy this one as i no longer use my 3 yr old Olympus C-4000 Zoom because its a bit too bulky.0 -
Jessops have also recently been slammed by the Advertising Authority for making misleading claims that they were cheaper than online. It turns out that they were only cheaper than their own websites.0

Hey ScoobyDooLondon, thanks for the info - there's another thread in the vouchers board discussing this, and another on HotUKdeals. I'll try and get a BG to merge the two MSE posts.

Forgot to add that I went back to Jessops on my way home, and asked if I could see an IXUS 60.
They never had any in stock but they said they could order one from the warehouse. As there is no commitment to purchase, I decided to proceed and gave my details.
Lo and behold this afternoon I get a call from Jessops saying that the camera has arrived in store!
So, appears that Jessops can order from their central warehouse but Jessops online are still claiming they can't get hold of any stock.
I called Jessops online and told them that branches were able to order the camera, so why couldn't they do the same. The operator went off to speak to a supervisor but promised to call back today (but hasn't). I'll chase this up tomorrow.
I would urge others to do likewise. Go to any branch and if they have no stock of the IXUS 60 order one in store, and then call up the Jessops online and push them to do likewise.
I'll post tomorrow hopefully with some good news.
Come on guys, we can't let this lie, Jessops have definitely been very underhand about this whole affair.0 -
Looks like my perserverance has finally paid off. Got home to find a next-day despatched delivery from Jessops with my brand new Canon IXUS 60 billed at the agreed price...!! Woo hoo, I'm well happy now, charging it at the moment.
Looks like my call to Canon UK, the Manager at local Jessops and Jessops online has finally paid off. Put my case across to them and asked for someone senior to review my grevience, and it worked!
Just need to sort out a SD card and case - anyone know a good place to get an original Canon case.
Thanks again, and good luck to all you others. Would be nice to see if others get their camera as well, if so, do post here and let us know.0 -
Well done. My mission starts tomorrow! Only problem is I fly on thursday morning! Doubt it will come in 3 working days! :-(
Well done. It good to see people putting the work in and not just moaning. An example to all ;-)0 -
I've just called Jessops Online CS and the lady told me that there was no stock. So told her that I went to my local Jessops store yesterday and they told me that there was stock on the system. She then put me on hold and to check again and came back and again told me that there was no stock and that the stock on the system was an error as there was physically no stock. She then went off to the "buyers" department to find out when they might get stock in and she told me that they didn't have a date.........0

Definitely something fishy going on here.
Called up, the nice lady checked my order and immediately said "oh we've got plenty of those", she sounded completely sure of herself, and was confused as to why my order was on hold. She took my number and went to check with the (sales?) manager.
She called back 5 minutes later apologising that the stock indication on the system was incorrect and they don't actually have any stock. I told her that she seemed to be 100% sure that they had them in stock and she said that she was just going by what the system told her. That's rubbish, as just 5 minutes ago she said there was plenty and she seemed completely sure of herself.
She offered to cancel my order, almost encouraging me to cancel! As they were very unlikely to get more stock in -ever-. I told her to leave my order open for as long as possible.
Whoever she spoke to obviously told her to fob me off with this excuse.
I then asked to speak to a supervisor but no one was available at this time(?!). So I'll be calling again later.
Everyone who's ordered this needs to get on the phone, they need to be hassled about this. That includes the lurkers btw0
