Got a bank charge through cos Amazon had charged me £50 for a service called Amazon prime my bank wont reverse the charges and say I should seek compensation from amazon as I was unaware I had to untick the box to opt out. I was wondering what my correspondence should be and am I entitled to compensation??

    Hi, Welcome to MSE :)

    Compensation for what exactly?

Contact Amazon and see if they are willing to refund the £50.

It's happened to other here and they have been refunded.

And remember in future to read everything before you opt into something ;)

As you were given the option not to sign up for Prime, and you admit yourself you weren't paying attention as it does state that you will be signed up for it, you won't be entitled to any "compensation".

Amazon are quite good, and as long as you haven't used the benefits of prime, if you contact them they will normally refund the cost of Prime.

That's OUTRAGEOUS, they've charged you for a service you signed up to? Crikey, my first call would be to the Police! Demand 2 years free Prime as compensation.

I have Prime and its great, but i do split it with 4 other people so its £10 each, not worth paying £50
