I always found Vanquis customer services to be quite helpful and there were always more than friendly whenever I had to call them. I don't think I ever encountered any problems when using my card. We’ve had to remove your signature. Only problem I have had was the £1 thing they added to my statement. Just simply could not be ars*d phoning them (normally I do with this sort of thing)0

My Vanquis card was blocked a month ago because they picked up some dodgy transaction that i did not make. I had a DD set up for full amount so obviously i cancelled it the paid the bill manually so the balance was £0.00 then I set up a new DD when the new card arrived.
Today i have recieved my November statement and have been charged interest on the previous balance of £0.00 because even though i told them i had cancelled the old DD & set up a new one for my new card, thier 'system' has logged that it was unable to collect the minimum payment on the old DD because it was cancelled.
So even though the last statement was £0.00 and they wouldn't have got a minimum payment for that anyway, they have still worked out that it is mathematically possible to charge purchase interest of 3.433% on a balance of the sum of ............ ZERO!
How the hell did they work that one out? I've just spent almost 30 minutes trying to explain to the Bimbo on the other end that if the balance of a statement is ZERO then obviously there is nothing to charge interest on because you can't pay a minimum payment of £5 if the balance is ZERO! (Are you feeling my pain yet?)
She very kindly said she will ask her manager to investigate & she couldn't guarantee anything but because i always pay in full on time, they might be able to waiver the interest on this occasion as a goodwill gesture. Well isn't that nice of them? They are very kindly going to investigate and see if they can waiver an interest charge on a balance that didn't even exist in the first place. :rotfl::rotfl:
Did you actually get charged anything? You haven't mentioned...Success and failure is determined by effort.0 -
Yes. Nearly £3.00 on a Zero balance, and they say i still have to pay it and as long as i pay my NEXT statement in full it will be refunded, even though i ALWAYS pay my statement in full and shouldn't have been charged interest on a Zero balance in the first place.

They are probs just doing it to pee you off. When dealing with the CSA its important to note that it is commonly accepted as unfit for purpose, and by default this also means the staff are unfit for purpose.0

Vanquis are crap
I changed banks so phoned them to change my direct debit details over well in advance of my next statement. They said it was all set up fine and in time for my next payment, and I received a letter confirming it.
In the meantime I cancelled the direct debit with my old bank. Can you guess what happened yet? Well, they cancelled the wrong direct debit
The morons went and cancelled my new direct debit details and tried to claim from my old bank, which they weren't able to. They tried blaming my new bank at first for blocking the transaction
I phoned my bank and they said Vanquis hadn't even attempted to collect the direct debit. Cue me phoning Vanquis AGAIN at least twice more that day, the woman on the end of the line said she could see it from both sides of the argument, and that it was a 50/50 fault
!!!!!!? How was it my fault they cancelled the DD?
Anyway to cut a long story short they refunded the £12 late charge and confirmed they wouldn't put a late payment marker on my account. How nice of them. All for a £6 DD - as IF I'd cancel the DD knowingly.
I paid off the small balance on there and finally they collected their last DD the month after. I have left the account open for the green 0's but will NOT be using that card ever again.
Steer clear of Vanquis, they are a bunch of idiots. The first woman I spoke to was so patronising and unhelpful, and the one who went on about 50/50 fault was incompetent. Their customer service is diabolical.0 -
Lol @ this.
I feel your pain, mate, I really do. I have had issues with these "bimbos" of late, too. They seem to take payments and charge for things that actually aren't there and it is oblivious to the customer how and why they are doing this.
I am getting rid soon enough, too. I pay them in full every month, but there are still unwarranted complications. Strange, strange, strange....
:mad::rolleyes: 0 -
Anyone got a proper number for vanquis other than the premium rate number0

For anyone who followed this farce of Vanquis charging me interest on a ZERO balance, i got my latest statement today & guess what?
They refunded me 2 interest charges of £2.69 on 25th november, then on 18th december they charged me interest AGAIN of £2.26. Does this company actually have any idea what it is doing !!!!!!? I have never owed them any interest at any point ever, i always pay in full every month by DD but for the last 3 months in a row they have charged me interest, then refunded it, then charged it again.
Just !!!!!!? I will be closing the account at the end of january anyway but i can already see what is going to happen - i'll pay in full & close the account, then a month later they will charge me interest again, then fine me a late payment fee because i didn't pay the interest that i didn't even owe them. How do you actually get through to these idiots that the interest on a balance of zero is ZERO!! Not £2.69, not £2.26 - ZERO!!
Just pay it, there are more important things in life than getting all hot and bothered about 3 quid.0 -

I'm sorry I disagree - the principles are important here.
In fact if I were the OP, after launching an initial complaint and with them making problems after problems, I will retaliate and demand that they not only make things right, but award a suitable amount of compensation (not goodwill gesture). For the costs of calling the premium rate number, the time lost, the grievances etc. Someone is not doing their job at Vanquis's side, and it is their responsibility for the costs of hiring such an incompetent staff.0
