Indeed. And the World Health Organisation recommend that infants are breastfed for at least two years. Maybe they are weird too.;)0 -
I doubt very much I will be breastfeeding that long. I will be going back to work part-time while my mum looks after her, but I will probabaly pump for longer.Best Comp wins[/B]: , Holiday to Las Vegas worth £3K, £200 shoes, £130 ASOS voucher, £150 River Island Voucher, £100 Toni & Guy Voucher, £250 Red Letter Day Voucher, Holiday to NYC[/COLOR]0

18months???
Blimey......that is , well, weird.
Flippin heck. Get real. There is nothing WEIRD about breastfeeding at 18 months. Its natural, normal and perfectly acceptable.
In 3rd world countries mothers breast feed for even longer and sometimes have a baby as well as a toddler so are feeding 2 at once.
If you want weird, perhaps you should watch Little Britain. Wanting 'bittie@ at 40, now thats seriously weird.
Remarks like this though, can make 1st time mothers who are doing the best by their child feel very abnormal, so what you are saying is a little unfair. :mad:0 -

Does sound very much like a growth spurt. I think one boob is fine if baby isn't a big eater, but my little boy was ravenous all the time and after draining one boob would go straight to the other! He also seemed to comfort suck so I used a dummy, could only get him to take it though if he was tired. Also maybe try a sling?
This has probably already been said, haven't read all the thread am too tired lol. Hope you're ok xxx0 -
I would always have fed my babies where ever I was. On a bus, in a restaurant or shop cafe. If anyone complained then I felt that it was their problem, not mine but to be honest noone ever did.
hear hear. If they don't like it, they always have the option to stop looking! Not that there's ever anything "on show" anyway. Please do not confuse me with other gratefulsforhelp. x0 -
i breastfed all three of my children - the first for six weeks (yes i was told i wasnt producing enough milk and made to feel inadequate!) the second i ignored all health visitors doctors etc and fed him for nearly three years (i had accident and had to go to A & E and had to have no1 son feed! jeez you would have thought i was doing porno film according to nurses! then a doctor stepped in and said its normal in his country to feed until three years old!!! he congratulated me! told the nurses that in his opinion babies here were made to grow up too soon!! which caused problems! i couldve kissed him! my son gave up breast then as i was pregnant with son no 2!0

oops - Op wanted advice! relax hun - the best way to feed is to relax! make sure you are well hydrated and fed! then let the baby feed on one side for at least twenty minutes - then switch to other breast! the baby may feed for a few minutes or another twenty! if its only a few minutes try to remember to start her on that breast next time! please remember - a baby may finish a bottle in five minutes or less - breast feeding takes time! a feed may take an hour or more!!! by baby no 3 i would use the time to catch up on reading or just watch tv! all babies are different - and feed at different rates - my mum tells me i was greedy and would take about ten minutes on each breast! my daughter was awful - so slow - i think the prob was i would get tense! then she took so long i got bored! recipe for disaster as i was expecting her to take ten minutes each side! she didnt read the book!0
