no i have no chips on either i am just trying to state that if the money is scottish and english people dont want it then why would they want anything that came from north of the order oil and water just seemed to be the biggest 2 things I could just have easily used Haggis and Irn Bru but thought that everyone has heard of oil and water so i used that. I have many English friends and relatives an have no quibbles with anyone.colmil wrote:It's nice to see that you are well balanced, Bargainboy-a chip on each shoulder!Bargain BoyNo amount of money is worth more than good health0 -
I used to work in a small independant pharmacy in Cornwall and we accepted Scottish money with out a doubt ( providing it passed the same counterfeit checks as we did on english money!!) we paid it into the bank with all the other takings so theres really no need for any shop not to take it.Debt free = December 2010...as of March 2006 it is now January 2010..... as of December 2008 it is now December 2009 :j hopefully sooner!!:jDEBT FREE:j January 2012, took longer but I got there, all by myself, through sheer hard work and pride!0

Another example of the arrogant English0 -
Shut up, you whining git. If someone has a question they need answering they shouldn't have to pause and think whether some chip-bearer like you might not like it.steve$$$$$ wrote:Another example of the arrogant EnglishThis space has been intentionally left blank0 -
I once had a meal in an Italian restaurant in London. They wouldn`t accept a Bank of Scotland cheque as `the Scottish pound wasn`t the same value as the English pound`.Too much trouble to argue so I went to the cash machine.0

That's crazy, the Scottish pound is the same as the English pound. It is ALL £ Sterling.
I had this situation when I was working in Northern Ireland though. Got a flight in Birmingham airport and taxi home, and the driver refused to take a Northern Bank note, even though it was Sterling.
So ... I told him to take it or have nothing. He soon took i then!!0 -
I live in England, but I am Scottish so I do sometimes have Scottish bank notes. I find that most places will accept them, and I haven't been turned away yet - that may be due to the fact that I am prepared to quibble over them with shopkeepers.
At the end of the day money is money and if you are worried about not being able to spend it then deposit it into the bank or go on holiday to Scotland where I am sure they will gladly take your money0
