Look what I just seen:
Nice isn't it?
I was thinking of getting a Civic Type-R but they are usualy for nobby drivers
And I don't work in a bank lol. I work for a big computer company.0 -
never-in-doubt wrote: »Of course they cannot charge what they want! There should be guidelines and until such a time, they are holding the consumer to extortion. Can I, when the bank gets things wrong, invoice them £175 per hour cos I sent them a little leaflet with 3pt text on it?
Martin is spot-on and he will continue to be so, when he starts the fight for round 4 (or round 2 of the defeat)....
I've said it before, and I'll say it again. They can charge what they want and no amount of bleating by you is going to change it.
Bank customers seem to think they have a god-given right to dip into the bank's funds whenever it suits them. They don't, and any fee the bank charges when it happens is fine by me.
If someone took my money without asking me, they'd get more than a fee. They would get a visit from the police if I was in a good mood, or a bloody nose if i wasn't.
And now, of course, you'll say . . but but but, people do it by mistake. They forget a DD. Well, !!!!!!!! to that. If they are old enough to have a bank account they are old enough to be able to manage it like adults. If they look like they are going into debt, talk to the bank.
People are such idiots. They can't manage their affairs and then whine like children if they are penalised for it. Then along comes white knight Martin Lewis to solve all their problems, but it isn't going to happen this time.
Im going to set up a rival campaign, encouraging banks to increase fees for bad customers. I want to continue banking for free, and I want my holding of bank shares to increase in value.
So . . anyone for £100 for going overdrawn campaign?0 -

I also think we should adopt a system like France. In France, one "wooden cheque" (as the locals call it) and you are given a warning and may be fined. Two bounced cheques results in you being banned from having a cheque book for at least 3 years and opening a new bank account in the next year. You are also added to a blacklist which is shared among banks. Serial cheque bouncers can also be sent to prison (see here: http://irishherault.wordpress.com/2009/09/14/bounced-cheques-france/). We should have a system like this, but apply it to DDs, debit cards, etc.0 -

Although I think it's a good idea, I can never see the UK implementing it. If people are sh*t annoyed at the charges at the moment, how do you think they will feel when the banks all close down their accounts?! It'll be crazy.0 -
As I said earlier this will mean the end of free banking totally, the banks will now charge exactly what they want with impunity. Everyone will soon pay those in debt or not.
No - you can avoid bank charges by not having a bank account - or just a basic account (or a savings account) that won't let you go in the red.0 -

The consumer as a whole didn't lose. Most consumers don't pay charges....much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0 -

Hello :hello:
You've never ventured here before.0 -
I think this has legs.
I like the French idea of banning people from having cheques, but I'd go further.
Marshalsea Prison Redux anyone?
(cue lots of head scratching and 'huh?'s)0 -
There also seems to be a prevailing sense in the UK now that a middle class life is the automatic right of everyone, irrespective of your ability to pay for it.
