There isnt a chance your daughter could be pregnant is there ?
Just spotted this
I'm as certain as I can be that this isn't the case. She's pretty open about things and as far as I know she hasn't yet done the deed
(might just ask her again though just in case...)Thanks to all who post comps :A :T0 -
Didn't mean to worry you ,just wondered if you had considered the possibility as I was that age when I had my eldest0

I am currently pregnant with our second, and will certainly not be getting the vaccine, nor will our daughter. Its safety is highly questionnable, and its justification even more so.
I would advise anyone who is considering having this injection to do some serious research beforehand0 -
Some of this thread is very attacking. There is a school of thought that people get a better immune system if allowed to get an infection. I do agree that every parent needs to do a risk assesment on the danger to their child of getting the jab versus the illness. This assesment will be different for each person and each child.
If you have a poorly child with breathing difficulties then the pendulum will swing more to the side of the jab.
It is true that quite a high percentage of front line NHS staff are refusing the vaccine.
As to this being a normal flu it isn't . It has some unusual characteristics. So far it is not as bad as first feared, however if it mutates that may not be the case. The truly feared pandemic is the bird flu which has a very high death rate, however thankfully atm it is not having sustained person to person transfer.0 -

I didn't mean to thank you
Please tell us what research you have done, and what qualifications you have for interpreting said research. It is extremely unfair of you to suggest that the safety & justification of this vaccine is questionable with nothing to back it up.
Please back up your claims. Thanks to all who post comps :A :T0 -
Because sweetheart, some of us will take a child pumped full of chemicals rather than risk a child lying in a hospital bed with a respirator on their face and IV lines keeping their bodies hydrated and being pumped full of antibiotics to help combat the pneumonia they have developed as a result of having a wee touch of the flu.
Not everyone is blessed with a perfect immune system.
Nicely put Tia:T We've been through this 3 times in the last year with my daughter unfortunately:(
My little girl (aged 5) had the vaccine last week, she has been hospitalised 3 times with pneumonia in a year, had 4 maybe 5 other nasty chest infections too. She is currently off school with another, she also has Tetralogy of Fallot but wasnt flagged on the GP list to be vaccinatedVery unhelpful receptionist basically said 'computer says no!' So asked the GP who we've dealt with several times and she said of course she can have it and booked her in for that afternoon. No side effects other than a sore arm.
The trouble with the world is that the stupid are cocksure and the intelligent are full of doubt.Bertrand Russell0 -
My 7 year old son and I have had the swine flu injection at the same time as our normal flu jab. My husband has also had his done as we all have a strong history of chest problems. My other 7 year old daughter should have one but due to her allergies cant have one and I do worry a bit about her. The three of us had no side affects apart from a bit of a sore arm, it was just like having the normal flu jab.If you want the rainbow you have to go through the rain.

This debate reminds me of the MMR arguement! Should we or shouldn't we?
I'm led to believe that my baby will be offered it as he has Down's Syndrome so therefore is supposed to have a weaker immune system and because of that the rest of us will be offered it aswel.
I was going to have it done but now have doubts...I must be really easily led!Started PADdin' 13/04/09 paid £7486.66 - CC free 02/11/10

I'm almost hoping they don't offer any of my family one as I really cannot make a decision about whether we should have it or not.0

'Normal' seasonal flu kills 10,000 parents, brothers, sisters, uncles, friends, lovers, sons and daughters each year. This pandemic flu poses a significant risk over and above the background rate of bereavement. If you've had one of them, there's no reason why you couldn't catch the other.
Of course, when someone refuses the vaccines on a matter of principle and they lose the one thing they love above all others, I am sure it must be a great comfort to them that at least they refused the vaccination because they trusted nature (the system that has evolved the virus - and cancer, HIV and Rheumatoid Arthritis) couldn't possibly be bettered by medicine. It must be great for children to wonder whether it was their illness was what did for Nanny/Mummy and the new baby too.
I would also point out that front line NHS staff (particularly Consultants) also get pulled up frequently for not bothering to wash their hands between patients. Some genuinely seem to think that they won't have bacteria or viruses on them. Doctors also tend to have high rates of alcohol and drug abuse and are at an elevated risk of committing suicide over the rest of the general population. So, it is reasonable to theorise that some of those people refusing the vaccinations are the same ones who are quite happy to go from one contagious patient to one immune compromised patient without so much as a glance in the direction of the alcohol hand gel.
As I would expect that having either or both strains of flu is going to be considerably more disagreeable than an injection and a theoretical risk of reacting to it (egg allergies are different, obviously, and medical advice is to be followed), I threw caution to the wind and decided to act recklessly.
What do I know...I haven't keeled over yet.I could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.Yup you are officially Rock n Roll0
