Oh well, it was good while it lasted. Managed to earn £7000+ charging my friends 20% for getting their money back.Had another £22000 commission on hold, lost that now, lifes a !!!!!!!. Anyway back to credit cards and ppi insurance still a good earner.

Wow, with friends like you, who needs enemies?
...much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.
  • What a load of old tripe. It was a forgone conclusion in my opinion that the banks would win today, after all look at the way they have behaved recently and have been allowed to get away with it...

Had they have lost today then I guess the Gov't would have had to lend them anoth £10 Billion, so it was always going to be a loss after all thats part of the idea for the supreme court.....

One of my banks can now get lost. I have contacted the HR department today to change my Salary allocation, don't think i'll bother with them again:money:
  • Read paragraph 56 of the judgment. Read the court's declaration. Good luck.

    read paragraphs 57 to 64

and thanks for the "goodwill gesture" of good luck :rolleyes2

I can't fathom how people can side with the banks. They make literally BILLIONS from the financial suffering others. Siding with massive profit machines? You're nothing but a sheep. This country is going down the drain and people are sitting back and letting it happen. As long as your television pumps out hundreds of channels daily and you can have your shopping delivered to your door, just bend over and take it right up the a$$.

Refusing to side with people who go overdrawn and then get charged != siding with the banks.

    Hiya,

The Times is doing a special on the new bank charges result and would like to speak to anyone who has bank charges cases on hold.

The Yorkshire Post is also doing a piece and would like to speak to people with claims on hold in that area.

If you're interested in taking part in either of these, please send me a private message with your name, telephone number and how much you have on hold. Thanks very much

I have, for quite a while now (2-3 years), not been able to stand any of the banking adverts on TV. But of course, they do trust the old manipulating ways of advertising and keep using them to try to change the perception of their cutthroat businesses to be something other than the vile and greedy, people-abusing practice that it is. The bloodsucking reputation of lawyers doesn’t even come close to banks and those who work for them.

It makes me physically ill every time I see bank adverts...the more I see them the worse I feel. Anyone else feel the same way?

Not just overdrawn, but overdrawn on their overdraft.
  • I am not a nasty person at all but i really do hope that everyone who has made comments about how they “have never had a charge” and that “it’s your fault you’re so bad with money” and other similar comment find themselves in financial difficulty in the future, then maybe they will think twice about being so judgemental and selfish. There are people on this board who are in desperate need of money.
41% of people would use the re-claimed bank charges to pay off bills/debt so its not like everyone would just spend it on “beer and fags” as someone so nicely put it.
i myself work every day all day and i am still struggling to get through each day, any help would be so appreciated, you cannot judge people for clutching to straws, people are losing their houses and all some people can say is “oh well, im ok!” where is your human decency?
  • If everyone is so upset about this then they should start a movement to get everybody they know to remove their cash from the bank on the same day and see how long it takes the bank to go broke. That would be funny but would need to be well organised.

Then the little man could well and truly screw overe the banks.

And to all those people going on about how generous it is for the banks to give us free service, i think you are missing the point, If we did not use the banks at all they would not be in business, they would have no money to spend.

I say F**k the banks, good and proper, and if the government bails them out again then maybe we should start a civil war and hang someone!!!

Just heard Martins thoughts on the main page, and now any hope I had that their might be another route to reclaim bank charges has gone. It really does feel like the end to me, after all this time, all the court cases that have been won in our favour, it's all gone out the window.

This on the BBC's website concurs with your assessment.
The FSA says banks must now start processing all the complaints that have been put on hold for the past two and a half years.
The British Bankers' Association says banks will deal with them "in an orderly fashion".
"Each individual bank needs to deal with each individual complaint," said a BBA spokesman.
Lord Phillips said the Supreme Court's judgement "may well not resolve the myriad cases that are currently stayed in which customers have challenged relevant charges".
The brutal truth though seems to be that the claims for refunds of past charges, whether at the banks, in the courts or with the Financial Ombudsman Service (FOS) are dead in the water.
"That is the end of it," a barrister who specialises in banking told the BBC.
"All these actions will be struck out - there is no basis for them as currently constituted."
