MSE News: Bank charges: banks win test case appeal

The system loves people like me? The system loves the muppets paying bank charges more ya tube. We're all taxpayers- we've all assisted the bailout. What I haven't done is paid in any other way like most of the nuggets on here. My direct day to day banking is free. For lots on here is clearly isn't. What exactly is your point?
You sound like a bitter bitter wee man. "The big bad banks done it and ran away".
One question then. Do you think £30 - £40 is a reasonable sum for a bank to charge someone for not paying their DD, add to that the fact they then put a default notice on a credit file, thus creating a debt on file that does not and never has existed.
If your answer to that is yes, words fail me0 -

Really? If you mean abusive and ignorant, then yes, they certainly are. This board is usually quite supportive. As you'd know if you had ever posted more than 20 odd times. Bye.
I've posted thousands of times over about four or five years under various names, so don't lecture me on what this forum is like.0 -
Thats another thing - the banks didn't like the outcome and therefore had 3 appeals. Can we not now do the same? e.g appeal until we get the answer we wan?
Oh yeah of course not this is Britain....
Is this intended to be deliberately dense?
The appeal process is an escalating one. The process has now been exhausted. End of.0 -

So those of you clutching at straws should just accept it.
Good for him! Now, what if all of us affected negatively by the Supreme Court's decision decide that we're fed up with paying our taxes?0 -

i think those who are smug and think its great should be charged a lot more than those who struggle ie if you pay in more than 5000 pounds a month you should be charged for it for using the bank
hahahahahahahaahahahahaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa
HAHAHAHAHAHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
that is the funniest thing i have ever heard.0 -

Outrageous post. Combined with your other 4-letter tirades, I suggest you go out, take some deep breaths and calm yourself down.0 -
I think the ruling is hilarious and absolutely just. The banks are a business. They are in the business of making money. Any other business will charge you for their service/products-why shouldn't the banks? "But they are not fair charges" I hear all you lot cry. Well I paid £3.50 for a bottle of water in London t'other day and I am pretty sure that it did not cost the producer or the retailer that much to supply it to me. I still paid it because I was thirsty and that is the going rate in that particular shop....I didn't have to buy it....see where I am going with this???
The vast majority of bank customers abide by the rules and are never charged a penny even though the bank provides them with their money from any ATM worldwide, will pay cheques on their behalf, will pay all their bills by direct-debit etc. etc. etc. All they ask is that if you ask them to do all these things for you (without any cost to yourself) that you have paid sufficient money into your account to cover all of these requests. For the few people that abuse this generous system then they will charge you and rightly so! If the ruling had gone the other way then the MINORITY of abusing customers that are charged (and through spokespeople like MSE) will have suceeded in reducing charges. BUT ONLY FOR THEMSELVES! The banks would have started charging fees for EVERYONE using their accounts! Another story where the minority that can't stick to the rules spoil it for everybody! How is that FAIR to me or my 89 year old grandmother???
So yes I laugh in the face of you all and MSE.
Mr Lewis you seem to have made yourself famous by dishing out what can only be described as poorly advised information. You should be ashamed of yourself. I am sure I heard you advising shoppers t'other day to go with their friends and take out strecards one at a time when they go shopping to benefit from a group discount. Here's the rub!-the people that will listen to you and do this are likely to do this each time there is an offer and before they know it they have 2 or 3 cards. Now what are all those credit applications going to do to their credit files?? Exactly.
:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:: rotfl::rotfl:
Mindless.
It's exactly this attitude that makes the poor stay poor, and I don't really apply that only to the relative 'poor' of this country.
Heard of Fair Trade?
What if you were charged £35 for that bottle of water? What if groceries costed all your weekly wage, would you want something done then.
What if you were charged 35p for it and someone else lost out so you could have it at that price.
The current market depends on their being losers and winners, and so does the banking system.
There is a very fine line between COST and EXTORTION and to me that's what the bank charges represent. They DO NOT represent costs, so they represent extortion imo.
This is still to be contested by the OFT so go rofl in sh*t. There will be a new ruling I'm sure of it - to make banks FAIR to consumers.
If not, there are entrepreneurs out here who will make them stand to attention!
I would totally stand by consumers taking ALL their money out of the banks and make the banks squirm, because that is what they are doing to thousands of their 'customers' who they do not give a sh*t about. That needs to stop. Banks will not be able to give their 'LOANS' (of our money) away - to all those gloaters particularly!
Please keep your eyes peeled for Snaxi we're also on Twitter. Consumers should stand up for their rights not to be scr*wed over. Tell the banks where to stick their UNFAIR charges. Most people agree that this is UNFAIR hence this forum!
The gloaters won't be gloating for long - my prediction. :A0
